Source: Clearing up confusion about wireless charging on the BlackBerry Priv | MobileSyrup.com

Spoiler!

TL-DR
No wireless charging for ALL Canadian Devices.

I don't think that article is correct, STV100-1 is listed as the model that has wireless charging , there no indications of sub variants of the device.

Also a tweet from MichaelClewley (blackberry employee) says ALL STV100-1 HAS wireless charging.

With that said , i know 2 people that gotten their devices already from the Canadian SBB but do not have a wireless charger to test it on , will confirm with you tomorrow as one of them is getting it in the mail.

knight604 11-09-2015 04:54 PM

And they have editted the page with this to say.

Clearing up confusion about wireless charging on the BlackBerry Priv | MobileSyrup.com

"All PRIV devices purchased from ShopBlackBerry support wireless charging, regardless of whether they’re purchased from Canada or the U.S. (the STV100-1 variant). The site will be updated shortly with this information.”

boibuddha 11-09-2015 05:15 PM

When I initially read this article, I questioned the validity of it and thought they were writing the article based on here say and rumours due to the lack of info on BB's Canadian site.

It didn't make sense to me that they would charge $100 premium to have a device unlocked.

Then they got a "BB rep" saying this - "cost “was a major factor.” With the exchange rate as it is, BlackBerry felt it would rather remove a feature than risk being forced to raise the price above what is already an expensive $899 CAD."

MobileSyrup has always been a good source of info for me, so I accepted it as truth.

Now it's up to BB to update the info on their page to clear any remaining confusion.

I'm not one to purchase insurance/protection plans, I think it's a scam and I've never broken a phone before. But after giving some thought to it, I paid about a grand for the PRIV and it would totally suck to shell out another for a replacement device.

I stumbled upon this, and I didn't know that Blackberry offered a protection plan for their phones. Basically for the PRIV it's $5.25 CAD monthly and $129 CAD deductible for a replacement device if you dropped it, spilled liquid on it, or anything resulting in the screen being cracked.

I will be getting the BlackBerry protection once I get my priv. Also that flip case omg, never was a fan, but I think knight604 converted me.

First look at the BlackBerry "Vienna" - the company's second Android phone! | CrackBerry.com

Teriyaki 11-11-2015 10:42 PM

Venice and Vienna. Anyone else prefer the code names vs the marketed name?

knight604 11-12-2015 12:04 AM

I've come to a conclusion to these shopblackberry/digital river bullshit.

1. It you be in your hands within 14 days prior to your order date in compliance to the batch ranging from Nov 6, 9, 23, 30.
2. Once it shipped , should not take more than 2 business days to get to your location.
3. Shopblackberry/digital rivers is a joke.
4. I want my priv, anyday now.

tomatogunk 11-12-2015 07:52 PM

Today is a good day. Sold my Passport and I was lucky enough to be able to secure a unit from Amazon.com the other day. Had it shipped across the border and didn't even have to pay taxes coming back. Unit costs just about the same as ShopBB with the exchange.

First impressions:
-Gorgeous screen- I could look at it all day
-Keyboard feels mushy and softer to touch, doesn't click like the Passport's. But after some time and use, it has a nice feel to it and is reminiscent of the Bold keyboards with 4 rows. It's not better or worse compared to the passport, just different. Though I feel there are lags with the double tap gestures and when highlighting text
-Oh and the click you hear and feel when the device slides up... :megusta:
-With a Qualcomm quick charger, this thing charges FAST. I was at 11% when I first wrote this and it hasn't been 10 minutes it's already at 25%

I could have bought one too but i decided not to , figured i wait..

@tomatogunk , The keyboard keys travel less from the point of press, it is why you think it feels mushy.

Any examples of what the Priv's camera is capable of?

pretty quick and easy.

Cwift 11-17-2015 07:43 PM

Is Roger's Priv model and Wind's model the same? If they are, then it should fulfill the 1700/2100 frequencies Wind uses right?
