Google Executive buys his wife Ferrari FXX K

Google Executive Buys Wife A Ferrari FXX K

We first heard about Google executive Benjamin Sloss and his admiration for the Ferrari brand in 2012 when he paid close to $1.8 million for a Ferrari 599XX Evo in a charity auction. Now he’s back in the headlines and proving his generosity once more, this time by presenting his wife Christine with a LaFerrari-based FXX K for her birthday.

The FXX K is sold out but for those lucky few invited to purchase one it came with a price tag of 2.5 million euros (approximately $2.8 million). The couple recently headed to Maranello to take delivery of their example at the factory and spend some time testing it out on Ferrari’s Fiorano test track.

It was a huge surprise as the birthday girl thought she was only flying to Maranello to drive the 599XX Evo, but when she arrived she was greeted with this yellow FXX K—the same shade of yellow the couple orders all their Ferraris in.

And before you start thinking Benjamin was really treating himself with the purchase, note that Christine is an accomplished GT driver and takes part in a number of track events each year. In fact, after a few laps of Fiorano in the FXX K, she was running 1:20 with a passenger on board. That comes close to matching the 1:19.70 that the LaFerrari set with official tester Raffaele De Simone at the wheel.

Of course, the FXX K is a much more extreme car than the LaFerrari on which it’s based. The track-only model, part of Ferrari’s XX rolling laboratory fleet, delivers as much as 1,035 horsepower from its hybrid powertrain. There’s also loads more downforce compared to the road car, plus slick tires and recalibration of the electronic systems such as the differential, traction control and SSC Side Slip Angle Control feature.

Aww, she looks like a real woman and not some sort of 19 year old half plastic arm candy. That and it says she was expecting to fly to maranello to DRIVE the other car. That's awesome too

i was expecting a brown guy because of his name

JesseBlue 08-31-2015 07:57 PM

tiger_handheld 08-31-2015 08:18 PM

big question: do we think he got some that night?

First time seeing this car....

Looks pretty sexy, but I guess having a full wing in the back really makes the car slower.
Function>Form I guess, cause those 2 little spoilers make that part of the car look silly if you're not looking at it from a profile view.
Now that I've noticed it... can't unsee it.

Top speed will be affected by drag sure, but at the same time the downforce will increase cornering grip. Worthy tradeoff IMO.

To me this is the best part, finally a car like this is going to someone that actually can and will drive it like it was intended to be driven.

tl;dr

StylinRed 08-31-2015 10:58 PM

3 tenths off of Ferraris own time + she had a passenger?!

well glad to see someone who will be driving it, and driving it properly, got the car

Timpo 08-31-2015 11:00 PM

This car is not even street legal.

I just don't see a point of this kind of Ferrari, other than a fact that you paid $2.8 million and might have some bragging rights.

Radical SR8 RX will beat this car on the track for 1/17 of price. ($162,000)

Suzuki Hayabusa engine. (RPE custom, 2.7L V8 430hp)
Skidpad: 2.5G
Braking: 2.0G
0-60mph: 2.7 sec
Nurburgring Laptime: 6:48

boostfever 08-31-2015 11:36 PM

lol @ comparing a Radical SR8 to an FXX that carries technologies straight from Formula 1 cars. absolutely clueless

Am I the only one that thinks it's ugly?

I think people who say it isn't are just fooling themselves. It's fucking hideous.

But it's a track car so that doesn't matter. It's am amazing car, but come on, it's fucking :rukidding:

It sort of reminds me of those Pikachu themed cars but its high on crack mode.

asian_XL 09-01-2015 04:39 AM

WIFE: FXXK, I want a mansion and a giant diamond, not a FXXKing car.

european 09-01-2015 06:37 AM

neat!

shiesty 09-01-2015 07:14 AM

I think it would look better in red with no livery

AzNightmare 09-01-2015 09:27 AM

Beauty is subjective, but the biggest key is whether it meets your expectations.

This is a supercar, so we expect something that looks amazing. While some say it's ugly, because it didn't meet their expectations of what a supercar should look like, that's fine.
But it's not ugly like a Pontiac Aztek.

Ferrari's are all pretty ugly IMO, the only really unappealing part of the FXXK is the rear spoilers but given that the whole car is built for function it looks pretty damn nice.

pastarocket 09-01-2015 12:09 PM

The big question for me is when ballin' Chinese parents are gonna buy this FXX K for their kids to go to UBC or SFU. Are those students happy with driving a peasant's 458? :lawl:
