Pre purchase inspection for used car?

Hi all,
I am in need of purchasing a used car with decent mileage. Last week, I found a used Mitsubishi Lancer near my town. I have contacted the owner and he is ready to sell his car. The car looks good and I did not find any issues while test driving. However, the price he quoted was beyond my budget. He told me that he won’t reduce the price. I really loved the car and willing to pay the money he asking. But, I just want to know whether the engine and internal parts are at good condition. I don’t have much knowledge about cars. I am thinking about performing a pre purchase inspection by a mechanic from Apex specialized automotive in Edmonton. Do anyone here have any other suggestions?

Best bet is to take it to either a general repair shop or a Mitsubishi dealer and he tthe owner to split the costs of the inspection pending sale
