Curious. Did anyone actually return their phone to get one with nexus protect? I still have 10 days left on my return period. Also returning my adopted case.

I might return my 5x. Is a nice phone but I just can't get over the screen brightness and it seems really flat. When you compare it to the 1+1 the 5x looks very dim and not bright enough and white looks very yellow. When compare the Iphone the color looks bland and flat. Not as natural as the Iphone at all.

Wow, very impressed with "doze" so far. Didn't touch my phone or move it for a full 9 hours and my battery went down five percent in that time.

Interesting. The 6p doesn't suffer from that at all. Mind you its an amoled panel vs ips.

Here is a list of Benson Leung approval of good/bad usb type c cables

USB-C Cables and Accessories

For those that dont know who Benson Leung is, is a Google Engineer who tested a bunch of usb tpye c cables and found some bad ones that potentially could damage the phone/usb port

Same! Will have to get adjusted to using this phone. So far, I'm really liking it, especially how after signing in with Google Accounts, it helped re-download and install all the apps I had on my Note 2.

Haven't done much to the phone yet, disabled a few Google apps, changed to Nova launcher and downloaded an icon pack. Battery life and the quick charging using the type-c cable has been awesome. Still have yet to transfer my music over and re-setup my tasker profiles.

Pro-tip if anyone has noticed that the deep amoled blacks seem grey in videos: don't update from the stock firmware (MDA89D) yet. Google screwed up the gamma/brightness in the most recent OTA and instead of the screen going from 0-255, it goes from 16-255 therefore you don't get true black when playing any videos on your phone (YouTube, mx player, etc.) if it relies on hardware acceleration.
Has anyone experienced this when upgrading? The damn OTA notification is annoying.

Anyone know if there is a place that sells 6p cases?

Waiting for the Spigen to ship but don't know how long that'll be.

I read on XDA that Google is aware of the screen issue and is working on a fix. No given timeframe though, I just hope sooner than later.

been using the phone for about a week now

initial thoughts :

pro - solid phone. looks slick but i have to put it in a case which hides most of its slickness

con - battery life still isn't that great... compared to iphone of course. those guys are beasts.

p.s. can anyone successfully charge their phone via USB / Type C cable through their computer? i brought the short dick cable with me to work and it doesn't charge. It'll say its charging but the phone doesnt actually charge.

not through a computer.. but charging the 6p through my aukey 10k mah is rediculously slow.. it doesnt support quick charge so gaining 15% takes about half hour or so

for those looking to buy local, there is a cellphone shop near the futureshop/yoga escalator in lansedowne mall that sells cases and plastic screen protectors for 6p and 5x

the screen protector doesnt have the cut out for the sensor just below the top speaker, so thought it block it but the guy from there let me test out and it works

i guess its the tempered glass ones gotta watch out for since it has thicker material to block the sensor

^^^

i slapped on a one plus (forgot 1 or 2) screen protector as the last 4 kiosks / shops did not have it yet. i'd say it covers 95%+ for the screen horizontally, and about 90ish% vertically.

Phoneshowcase (used to be known as Bestbuy99) at Victoria and 39th Ave only has screen protectors right now. $3. Doesn't have the cutout for the sensor below the speaker, but I've noticed no issues. The protector I got from them for my S4 is still going strong 2.5 years in.

They said they have cases coming in right now, should be a week or so depending on CBSA clearing their shipment.

Order my tempered glass off amazon. Cheap and fast delivery. Order some case from taobao (chinese version of Ebay but much cheaper and only ships to China) Since my gf is mailing some stuff I ask her to mail me the case too.

Ordered the Ringke tempered glass through Amazon prime for about $15. I also have the adopted case which I'm using temporarily till my Spigen thin fit arrives.

Google is notoriously slow at fixing these kind of bugs despite being flagged and star'd on their issue trackers. I hope the next OTA or factory images next month will have it fixed for people that want to stay 100% stock.

In the meantime, both leankernel and elementalx kernels have reverted the single offending commit if you're comfortable with using custom kernels.

I've been using the 6P side by side with my Galaxy S6 for a couple days now. The 6P is noticeably better than the S6 in low light situations especially with HDR plus, way less noise. In well lit situations the S6 takes a much more detailed photo as expected. The one thing I wish the 6P had is OIS and it is most evident when I take side by side videos with the S6 and 6P, the S6 is just way smoother .

The camera on the S6 may be marginally better but the 6P is a better phone overall. I just couldn't get around living with the horrible battery life with my S6. 4hrs screen on time with the 6P is just win. My only gripe with the 6P so far is the lack of nice cases.

hrm,. tahnks for the feedback djstyles. i have an s6 and am considering getting a 6p to replace it.. i cant stand touchjizz, despite disabling a shit load of things already.. and of course the shitty batt life.

any feedback concerning the size differences of the two?

edit: re: size, as in how it feels in hand- i know it's larger but does it feel that much larger in hand? i've read that the design doesnt make it feel that big.. etc etc.. of course it depends on your hand size.. but sitll..

honestly, you'll get used to the bigger size. i used to think anything with a screen 5" or bigger was just too big and i finally said fuck it and bought the 6P.
