need an exhaust shop to weld on new mufflers.

hi guys, any good recommendations for a cheap exhaust shop that can weld on my new mufflers? I was quoted 180$ somewhere because I would need custom piping to fix the mufflers on since they have a different offset than my current rear piping thats connected to the Y pipe. Went to Hoeglers in richmond today as well but they want 350-400 just for the job.

Have you tried muffler man? They bent me a new catback for $160 a few years back.
I went to Hoegler's a few months ago to weld in an extra muffler and it was about $100, pretty reasonable IMO.
Who quoted you $180 and why not just go to them?

SupraTTturbo2jz 10-09-2015 02:36 PM

Yeah, I just called muffler man, I'll have to bring the Car in for him to see first. Hoeglers today quoted me 300-400.. Just to weld in the two mufflers and custom Y pipe. The 180$ guy said he doesn't have the part available to connect the mufflers since my pipe at the back connects at an angle instead of like a wide U shape for the dual mufflers. Originally it would have been 100 just to connect if it was a direct fit. I'm searching for shops closer to south surrey/surrey area. Maybe even Bellingham can do for lower.

how much do you think it should cost? Seems like a lot of effort for $180.

realistically i think it should be under 150$ I took it into muffler man today and they said 250$ since they would need to make two dual exhaust pipes for me. Every shop has recommended something different so I am not sure what I need. I just want the two mufflers welded on and I need a custom pipe that can reach the after market mufflers. This is for 8th gen accord coupe v6 btw. I don't want anything special since I just wanted to replace the rusty oem mufflers. Need some guys to help me out here :okay: I'll try budget brake n muffler tomorrow.. so far 180$ is the cheapest route but no parts and He didnt even tell me what pipe I need

Phil@rise 10-09-2015 09:02 PM

how long till we see a thread started about a muffler install deal gone bad? lol

fliptuner 10-09-2015 10:10 PM

Cheapest one is $180 and he still needs pipes/bends...it'll end up costing a fair bit more.

SupraTTturbo2jz 10-10-2015 01:04 AM

forget what type of vehicles but usually, what is a fair price to you guys with mufflers/piping?

iHeat 10-10-2015 01:27 AM

go to quiet brake and muffler down a bit from muffler man they usually beat muffler mans price if you let them know

sdubfid 10-10-2015 04:34 AM

Cat back dual stainless exhaust is $180 on eBay

jpark 10-10-2015 09:17 AM

Try Custom Metal Craft.
I cant remember exactly, but they charged around $150 to $200ish to get mine welded on.
The welds are beautiful too. Quality work, bunch of euro car guys as well so they're not hack jobbers

Personal experience with couple mufflers/cat back systems done both @quite muffler&muffler man = hack job. They were relatively cheap tho. But guess gotta pay to play lol

This is the first thing that pops in my head whenever somebody asks for cheap welding done to thier car

$3-400 is reasonable. Muffler shops are low production. They don't run on hopes and dreams, or from the satisfaction of giving you a good deal.

did you need new piping or just perfect fitment and welded on? How were the welds at muffler man?

Akinari 10-12-2015 11:28 AM

Also recommend MDA. Guys there know their welding stuff, can't go wrong. Needed a catless J-pipe fab'd up and my catback welded up, they did a flawless job in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Wherever you go, please post pics of what you get done and a final price.

It would be helpful to other members to see what shops do for XXX dollars

Muffler Man +1
Brought 2 cars there before, not the cheapest but quality is top notch!
