So I called a dealership today and was told that if I placed an order today the expected arrival would be Oct /Nov. ..which isn't exactly great driving weather.

Is it worth it to wait for 2017 model?

Because of high demand for the Euro trip, BMW added an extra trip in mid June (original trip is in May) for M2 customers. With that being said, almost all the early production M2 produced in March to May will be allocated to those attending.

MY2016 M2 stops production in 06/16, so MY2017 starts production in 07/16. If you are expecting delivery in Oct or Nov, Most likely your car will be a MY2017 as shipping from Germany to Canada takes around 8-10 weeks. If you want to make sure, just let your sales person know that you want their first allocation for a 2017 M2.

As of now, there are only three allocations left for a 2016 M2. If the order is placed today, then production would be in June/July, in which the car would arrive around Oct/Nov. Unfortunately, all spots for the European Tour are filled in both phases, but they are taking names for a waiting list.

The deposit amount is $5000 and the rates aren't released yet for the car, but will most likely be 4.99% for finance and 5.9% for lease.

Ordering process is fairly straight forward since there's no packages to choose from except for exterior colour and some standalone options. I have attached a bulletin and order guide if you have any questions regarding the car itself. The ordering part can be done over phone, if you are comfortable with that, where I would just email over documents to confirm and sign.
that's what he said to me today.

wow, a 1yr wait... I was looking at getting a fun car for the summer, and this was in the back of my mind, but pulling more and more to the forefront, but there goes that idea

Yea makes me want to just wait for the MY17 and maybe get it for like a spring delivery.
There is no way the M2 will be a 1 year only production right?
Would the price from the M2 go up in 2017 given the success of the 2016 model in terms of how fast they were sold out?

it's a brand new model...let the early adopters take the hit and beta test the MY16 for ya and hopefully kinks will be ironed out for MY17

the price may go up, seen that with the Ftype, although they're cutting the price for the 2017 model (and standard options)

they did it with the RC as well, but only minimally, iirc +/- $1k

but yeah, if it's such a long wait, who knows what other cars will be announced or pique your interest from now til then

skiiipi 02-04-2016 06:48 PM

so Calgary BMW said they have allocation spot left for March Production which would be for May pick up
they said they have 1 spot left
might just pull the trigger on that one

twitchyzero 02-04-2016 10:35 PM

if deposit is refundable and you can hold them to that May delivery date

skiiipi 02-12-2016 10:05 PM

so finally pulled the trigger at Birchwood BMW in Winnipeg
I'm no.2 on their dealership list for the M2
They are hoping for a late March Production with a June delivery.

Congrats skiiipi, $67k for a brand spanking new m car is an amazing deal. Forget about paying $60k for a 1m or a 2013 m3.......

skiiipi 02-13-2016 02:16 PM

Lol yup
Weird part is I have no idea where I'm gonna live yet as I'm getting transfered for work soon.
So far it might be Vancouver , Calgary, Edmonton or Toronto.
If it's on the west coast I'll be sure to try to show up to a Revscene meet =)

tofu1413 02-13-2016 03:57 PM

There should be a bunch in Vancouver right?
You mentioned that you had 3 pre sold to people in revscene

And I know every BMW dealership I called in bc had at least 6 or 7 sold already.

I'm guessing the LBB color will be popular for the M2 too

For 2016, BMW ///M is all about the M4 GTS and M2. I cant wait to see these cars on the road.

Retrac 02-13-2016 07:39 PM

Congrats! It's going to look as good as it will be to drive!

skiiipi 02-13-2016 09:45 PM

Yea its going to be an agonizing few months while I wait for her arrival....
I haven't owned a brand new car since my Spec B, exciting times.

jk6221 02-14-2016 08:37 PM

Anyone here taking a European Delivery for their M2?

Oshiguru 02-14-2016 09:31 PM

I'm hoping they offer moonstone or silverstone for MY2017

twitchyzero 02-14-2016 10:07 PM

I hope someone will make OEM-looking widebody kit that make this look as aggressive as the 1M

edit: I thought the 1M rear fenders are more pronounced...nevermind

http://indyacars.com/wp-content/uplo...W-M2-vs-1M.jpg

def seem like heavier cars for its size...e46 m3 coupe weighs around the same. I'm sure it'll be a riot to own...jelly.
