I need a tow/flatbed from squamish to vancouver

Anyone have any personal expierence with any company or person? I obviously want it as cheap as possible. My suv broke down and needs to be towed back.

Thanks guys!

I think you can purchase BCAA, and pay an extra surcharge to use it immediately. That might be another option you can consider.

Ben at Fraser Valley Imports has this flatbed, but I'm not sure of his pricing.

Thanks for the replies. I've contacted numerous companies but looks like the only ones willing to do it are local Squamish ones. Thanks again

I'm willing to bet the local Squamish ones 'could' be the cheapest.

I would work out a cash deal ahead of time with the driver himself. Usually on these longer tows you can score a decent cash deal.

BCAA has a deal on right now you can get a Plus membership for $96, which gets you a 160km tow and then you still have 5 calls left for the rest of the year for battery boosts, gas drop offs, door unlocking, and everything else. Or for $144 you can get 2 tows up to 320km and 4 up to 160km. I'm not sure what the fee is to use your membership within 24 hours but I have a good feeling it'll be less than $250.

As simple as it sounds, you can't just pay for your upgrade when you have the breakdown. Maybe it's possible to join, but I had the basic membership and they wouldn't let me upgrade on a current issue because they don't want you "using" them in the moment, as opposed to paying for the service, already having it, and calling them when you need them. Trust me, I know it's ridiculous.

OP, I had this same problem. My car broke down halfway between Squamish and Whistler, and I went to upgrade and they wouldn't do it. Because they input your vehicle location and info, you can't call a buddy to upgrade either cuz it's in the system. So my solution? I got a buddy to upgrade on the day, waited several days, then got him to take me to my car. I was a bit over 160km so I paid the overage, but otherwise the tow would have been over $500, before the repair, which was over $1000.

Honestly, if you have an older car, BCAA is a no brainer for the peace of mind. And get the Plus membership, otherwise they will only tow 5km.

No, it's not ridiculous, or else all insurance companies would be going bankrupt.

Canadian tire roadside doesn't make you wait as long. I think BCAA was 72 hours after signing up, Canadian tire was 24 or 48 hours. Get the better one though, Platinum or whatever, it's only another ten bucks

Thanks for all the replies but I did call around and being that the suv was about 25-30min off the highway down a gravel road and needed a flat deck due to broken suspension I can't complain. Bcaa wouldn't send there drivers there.

sorry this is the only most recent thread that talks about bcaa.

my dad damaged his suspension over the weekend in the bad rainstorm we had on that night. while he was pulled over, someone sideswiped him in a hit and run and now it's not safe to drive. he wants to fix this without icbc. i need to get it towed from burnaby to vancouver. my dad has a bcaa membership that's he's never used before. because of the stupid strike i'm in automated service hell and can't get an answer or a callback.

does anyone know if bcaa would tow his damaged vehicle from burnaby to a bodyshop in vancouver?

They will do it as long as it's with in his membership kilometer limit. They will tow it to anywhere you like.

The operators at bcaa are on strike. Hence the super long wait times.
