Costa Rica

Has anyone ever been there?

I happened to be there during early this year. It was raining at the time so didn't get good view of it, overall a pretty nice place though. The landscapes are pretty awesome!

What time of year did you go? I was thinking August

I'd like to know how some people choose to get there? Is a tour/vacation package better or available in Vancouver? Or do you just book a flight and hotel on your own?

they hardly have any viable all inclusive places unless you choose to pay an arm and a leg.

It's mostly your own flight and hotel packages, the prices are reasonable that way. Plus Costa Rica is safe for travel freely. You will need a vehicle there as well. But there's a lot to see and do. Which is why it's on my list of possible vacation spots for next year.

I went back in '12 for 3 weeks. It was a great trip I rented a Diesel Toyota Fortuner and drove around most of the Country. It's a very easy place to get around and safe.

We went to San Jose - La Fortuna - Monteverde - Volcan Rincon de la Vieja - Tamarindo

I just left the country yesterday...lots to see and do in Costa Rica. Just go after our dollar comes back a bit. Everything there (like everywhere else in Central America) is based on the might USD.

Renting a car is one way but the local buses are cheap and easy to use. But having your own car is by far more ideal.

there's alot more to see than just the few places listed above. Check out the coasts, go east from SJ and explore.

I am pretty much sold on Costa Rica now. Most likely gonna spend 3-4 nights in Rio Perdido, then head down to Tamarindo for the same amount of time. I think 6 to 7 nights is good.

Looks like a gorgeous country inside and out.

Tamarindo has amazing beaches. do a search on which one suits you depending on how far you drive. It was super beautiful when I was there. The rocks on the beach weren't rocks, but tiny rounded shells that were size of sand from the constant pounding of waves making it super smooth.
