but there's two Hondas on the podium, :troll:

it was a good race. Turn one was definitely a game changer.
after the bike change, the pace seemed to change a lot though. I was hoping Maverick would placed but too bad.

It's early but Honda's start this year is the reverse of what they experienced last year when they struggled with the 2015 chassis and watched Marquez crash out of numerous races to before switching to a 2014 chassis/2015 engine package...

Fairly entertaining affair once you made peace with the fact that Marquez was going to dominate (despite the horsepower handicap of the Honda)...

Race Finish

1 - Marquez
2 - Lorenzo
3 - Iannone
4 - Viņales
5 - Espargaro

***Suzuki JUST missing the podium

Current Standings

1 - Marc Marquez - 66 pts
2 - Jorge Lorenzo - 45 pts
3 - Valentino Rossi - 33 pts
4 - Pol Espargaro - 28 pts
5 - Dani Pedrosa - 27 its

Sunfighter 04-11-2016 07:07 PM

Felt bad for Pedrosa AND Dovizioso ... I know it was early but another podium taken from Dovizioso ... Pedrosa was a class act though ...

Pedrosa: ?I feel especially bad for Andrea"

Sunfighter 04-11-2016 07:09 PM

I felt like there was something mechanically wrong with Rossi's bike early ... the field was walking by him and I couldn't understand why. Rossi indicated that he had burnt his clutch at the start and was desperately awaiting for it to recover while bikes were passing him...

yes, but at least there wasn't any stupid wet patch like the last race that took out Maverick.

4th place both in terms of finish and qualifying is not bad considering it's only their second year.

Sunfighter 04-23-2016 11:55 AM

It was nice to see for Suzuki. I completely agree.

Great article from CNN about the awkwardness of the Lorenzo transition to Ducati:

ROSSI ROSSI ROSSI.

When Rossi wins, the sponsors swoon, TV numbers soar, and Dorna smiles with glee. This is the narrative the sport wants (and needs). Lorenzo simply isn't as charismatic or engaging as Rossi despite the immense talent...

....with that ... we head to Spain for the first Spanish race of the season and ROSSI WINS .... takes pole and leads for all but a few nanoseconds!

Race Finish

1 - Rossi
2 - Lorenzo
3 - Marquez
4 - Pedrosa
5 - Espargaro

***Suzuki with an extremely strong finish .... taking the fourth and fifth spots!

Current Standings

1 - Marc Marquez - 82 pts
2 - Jorge Lorenzo - 65 pts
3 - Valentino Rossi - 58 pts
4 - Dani Pedrosa - 40 pts
5 - Pol Espargaro - 36 pts

A TERRIFIC article about how Rossi was able to utilize his tremendous past-experience in the pre-electronics world to master the throttle on a hot, slippery Jerez surface with iffy electronics and a stiff, unpredictable rear tire While others were struggling to fight "spin," Rossi simply leveraged his core skills to master the conditions and demonstrate how effectively electronics flatten the playing field and when they have a reduced impact that he remains the premier rider. PS ~ I'm clearly a Rossi fan.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Early in the race I was thinking, "there isn't a lot of excitement here ... what am I going to post on RS?"

Rossi moves into second place and then AT THE EXACT SAME TIME Dovizioso (third) and Marquez [fourth) crash in the exact same fashion!!!

Another HORRENDOUS result for the factory Ducati team ... Iannone passes Dovizioso for second and then crashes out (and subsequently aborts an attempted come back_ and then Dovizioso loses a potential podium when he later crashes out!

The 2017 season can't come quickly enough for Ducati (hello, Lorenzo!).

Both Ducati riders blame the Michelin front tyres....

MotoGP News - MotoGP France: Rossi: Points haul important for championship

Rossi continues to pickup points. Valentino collected 20 crucial points this weekend to keep his championship chase VERY much alive ...

A couple of other notes:

***kudos to Marquez for getting back on his bike and finishing the race. Those points, no matter how few, could be crucial come the end of the season
***Suzuki!!! First podium since their return to MotoGP! Viņales' departure from Suzuki might not be so certain any longer.
