Your best bet is to try ebay or online.
You can try G5 locally or make a post on CL for used center caps.

Basically, the guy is now asking for $26K cdn for his 99% stock 01 ITR with the CDM red interior.
Car has 14X,XXX kms.
Only mod is a JDM ITR steering wheel, but he still has the stock.
Only catch is, you have to take the 91 EF civic as well.
Si Civic hatch with B18C1 motor I believe.
Wire tuck, side markers.
ST front and rear sway bar, Beaks rear lower bar with I can only assume is Beaks rear lower control arms.
Gutted interior, still has carpet I believe.
F1Spec rep driver seat with Tanaka harness.
Doesn't look to be any rust in the rear.

This was the same car that JGresh posted about last year in the good buys thread.

I have seen the cars in his garage but not up close. I used to live around the corner from him. Interesting choice to list both cars together and not list them on CL/used vic etc.

Some pics on his instagram of both cars:

That's not a terrible deal. Hard to peg the CDN ITR market though. Are ITR buyers in Canada paying exchange rate adjusted prices for ITR's? Say it's worth $20K CAD. That's less than $15K USD. Champ White and red interior aside you couldn't duplicate this car in the US market for that price. Clean title, 90K mile, bone stock? No way. Seller would be asking like $18K USD.

And the EF worth $6K? Most likely not. But if it's rust free, it's not a bad platform to fuck with a little bit. I love EF's and white cars so it's almost a pot-sweetener for me.

Anyone want a 2006 Evo IX GSR? :dead:

^ If I ever decide to sell mine it will be going to the states.

That's about $37,000 CAD as of this morning. Quite a price jump! He probably saw your post white rocket !:QQ:

Aug 2013 the ITR was listed for $13,500 CAD ... on facebook only.

white rocket 12-09-2015 09:31 AM

No harm in asking. If someone's willing to pay it then hooray for capitalism. Haha, he probably did see my post then thought "whoa, I forgot about the exchange rate". Then starts advertising in the US. It's smart, no lie. Importation to the US is bitch though. Some US ITR guys have said the importation eats up the 30% buying power they have over us now so it's not really worth it for them to shop north of the border. State laws are the pain apparently. I don't know much about it though other than what was mentioned to me.

Having said that, it might be why the CDN market is not a direct reflection of what is going on in the US.

If it means anything to anyone, when I bought my 2001 ITR w/ <70k KM there was already an American buyer committed at asking price, the only reason it wasn't a done deal was because the American didn't fully understand the import process and was having a hard time getting a recall clearance letter from Acura because he didn't own the car. He ended up buying a 2001 FBP with 35000 miles for 20K USD from New York, and then paid 2K for enclosed transport.

IIRC I paid 19K CAD, I'm confident I could get 20K USD for it *If* it had the USDM front. Being that my car is converted to JDM front not sure how that would impact the value to certain high end buyers. I also don't have the CDM red fronts, just the rears with JDM front recaros... that could also prove to be an issue. Having said all that, don't really care very much what it is worth to anyone else so meh... if anything I would probably shed that car in a trade scenario.

IMO 20K USD+ is the new going rate for clean low mile ITR's.

I will also say it's very possible the ITR is just another member of the "everything is a collector car in 2015" bubble.

IMO the current car market will eventually soften up significantly, with the current American economy being quite robust people are moving excess cash into less attractive asset categories. Simply put, people are spending more for silly toys they don't need, when the economy starts to falter, there will be a flood of these assets into the market. I predict the E46 M3 will be amongst the hardest hit.

I have been reading and pondering why sellers are asking for USD money in Canada.
Americans can save money by purchasing a Canadian car but it requires work (time), 2.5% duty on most cars, transportation, etc. Americans normally don't need to import as there is so much more choice of cars in the US. Unless the car is special (like a GT3), or there is a significant savings they simply won't bother.

Smart speciality dealers know this and import the cars to the US before selling them (example Silver Arrow Motors in Victoria).

I figure sellers are listing special cars in USD simply because Canadian buyers will have to pay a lot more if they want to import from the US. Essentially the competition is priced much higher so why not raise your price as well since there are no other options for buyers? Whether or not a Canadian buyer will pull the trigger or wait on the sidelines for the next economic crisis is another story.

ninjaedit: loong got it

The 10K mile '97 that sold on eGhey for $41,xxxUSD. It is believed that the car was purchased by a US Acura dealer for showroom status. So that's the current benchmark. All ITR sellers are now basing their price off that one and adjusting for condition. Another 56K mile '97 sold shortly after for $26K USD. It sold within a day in Cali.

Would importing an original US car back to the US the same procedures as if any other CDN car?

white rocket 12-09-2015 03:11 PM

I believe the fact that a car was originally imported from the US to Canada doesn't make it any easier to import back to the US. I'd love confirmation though as I've only read this a few times in various threads.

Just wondering, but what year ITR is the best one? And for color, is the white one or yellow one more desirable?
