I like that it’s toned down, but I dislike cars that have bigger front ends than backends. That styling trend really bothers me aesthetically… I like it more than the previous one in sections, but as an entire car no.
Red carpet and the gauge in R mode has got to be my favorite. I also like how much information it gives you in R mode. I find in the FK8 it doesn't give you enough information.
It also has an oil pressure gauge this time!
I like how it's more upscale. My complaint with the FK8 is that the materials used are worse than my 9th gen civic touring and features are worse than my e36.

3288 is still pretty low by modern standards.
M2 is like 3600 and that’s a small car. The type R is a couple meals over an e36 m3 which people regard as a light, engaging old car.

I've had my deposit in for a few months. Happy with the changes and improvements they made over the FK8. Loved my FK8, and this will be a nice replacement.
in line at Surrey Honda as well! #7 supposedly and left the deposit last month.
Looks like a Mature take on the FK8 (which I wasnt a huge fan of the way it looked) and the cleaner softer lines reflect the FD2 and prior CTR's (which I'm a fan of)

If they paired it with a ZF8, it would probably be pretty good. Unfortunately, Honda only makes better-than-Nissan CVTs and their autos were nothing to write home about.

How reliable are these placements in line with deposits for in-demand cars like this? Like is it more or less based on an honor system?
I called a dealer on Island to tried my luck there. They said nobody put down deposits at the time and they will sell the car for MSRP + fees/taxes. They will not charge any extra dealer add-ons, unless I wanted them. I sent the sales person an email about 2 weeks ago and this was his response:
"We are aware of the limited supply of Type R and we hope to get two. We have deposits on two and we are very optimistic you will get your Type R. I will let you know the minute I have any additional information for you. Please do not hesitate to call me to discuss. The good news is this will make the Type R very rare and probably more valuable."
I'm taking this with a grain of salt as no information has been confirmed yet.
My other deposit is at a dealer in the Lower Mainland. They are charging extra $3800 worth add-ons on the vehicle. I'll probably plan to get my $500 deposit back or maybe get somebody to take over my spot and get my $500 back.
I hope there’s enough to go around.

Unpopular opinion: if they came out with an auto version it would open the doors for a lot more people.
Not necessarily unpopular but truth of the matter is that people who want to take this car to the track and hit some sweet lap times, this is the way to go. Transmission technology has come a long way.

I thought the ZF8 is RWD only. I can't think of any good FWD trannies other than VW and Hyundai's dual clutches right now. Everything else is average or kind of sucks.
BMW/Mini uses Aisin 8sp for their FWD stuff, it sucks.
Y'all might want to double check your spot on the waitlist at Surrey Honda. When I put my deposit down in April, I was #4. I emailed today and got a response that I'm now at #10

Sounds like dealers doing dealer things. I placed a deposit on a GR Corolla last summer and they gave me my position in line, but since I have no prior business with them they can easily bump my position down and prioritize VIPs without me knowing.
With limited releases like the CTR and GR Corolla I wish the waitlists are managed at the manufacturer level to keep things fair, but they won't care since they're selling every allocation that's coming (barring a crazy recession).
