its a decent deal compared to all the rebuilds prices that have been hanging around. Given its local here and ready to go someone would have to buy it store it for a bit and restore as the market goes. I think Itr prices will keep climbing its hondas iconic car.

If you want it all OEM spec it will cost quite a bit.
OEM fenders, bumper, head lights, hood, A badges etc
Paint and body work
OEM seats (at least black is relatively easy to find), steering wheel
OEM wheels / tires / center caps
OEM brakes
OEM intake, exhaust etc
Engine rebuild
Who knows what else. Prob 15k to restore. Maybe more?

15 k range sounds about right
I asked Fast Track in Richmond for quote for exterior paint only they quoted upwards from 6k and due to the age of itr expect to pay for hourly time for rust repair.
Oem motor rebuild with oem seals and gaskets easy 5k with odds and ends here and there. Once you open it up might as well replace it and get it done right.
by the time your done it would be well worth it a minty itr in the stable is therapeutic for your health.

When you think about it the one that SR auto was selling that's had a full restoration + over 10k in spoon parts selling for 40k doesn't seem like such a bad deal. You could never replicate it for any cheaper. I wonder if it's sold yet.
With the 98 selling for 10k is a pretty decent deal compared to what's available on the market locally , but I would set aside 10k parts only to do a full mechanical restoration like full engine rebuild, full suspension and brakes.
if you look at it from a cost/performance standpoint ya a k swapped Integra/civic or many other cars would be a better value but some times the heart wants what the heart wants. Other people feel the same way and that's why the values are sky rocketing.

Crazy that someone paid that kind of money for the SR ITR. It had a massive collision IIRC. Someone mentioned it previously. That would destroy the car IMO as the chassis is what separates the ITR from any other G3 Integra. Still though, someone thought it was worth it. Wondering if it was some baller who would've paid $40K had SR been asking that much. People like that really skew market pricing for rare and limited productions cars.
As for the $9k '98, yeah a $15K resto could make it a $25K car but it's still got over 200,000kms on it and a $4k hit in the rear. Hard to justify a resto unless you're just building a showcar. OG mileage with no claims reigns supreme in terms of value IMO.

Money rotts buy a itr double wammy make good cake on it while having the pleasure to owning it. Not to mention there are tons of YouTube video to remind you of having the ownership of a iconic Front wheel raw sports driving car right from first day it rolled off the assembly line. The pedigree is there that's the juice.

It also has a fully rebuilt motor and trans + fresh bodywork and paint, not to mention the spoon goodies. Apparently the new owner got a pretty good deal on it. Can't replicate that car for what he paid for it.

he's really enjoying it now as it brings him back to his late teens early 20s

Agreed that you could not build the car for the asking price. Another example of how desirable these cars are. I wish I stopped by SR when it was there to have a closer look. Glad the new owner is an enthusiast |

Hype R is great if you want to spend 30K on a car that feels like a poorly built Kia Rondo with no bluetooth.
