Those are some nice pics. Car exterior looks well maintained. Sad thing is you could probably part it out and get more money |

those are all track miles on the salvage...would anyone buy a motor from a vehicle that's obviously been flipped half a dozen too many times? no leaks
rhd 96 spec...another member few years back i think sold at or under 8k and IIRC it had almost half your mileage

Hey guys, so I ended up seizing a caliper on my 96' spec DC2... I remember seeing a post a while back with a guy that did the same, although I think he had a 98' spec. Just wondering how I should go about replacing it?... NSX calipers and all... plus I've got to get ahold of rotors to fit with my rare 4 x 114.3 setup (although i'm going to get the 93' spec accord rotors swapped in). Should I bother trying to rebuild it? If not, what to replace it with?... I know USDM type R calipers will fit but a bit pricey and will take a while in terms of ordering, and I don't know if it's worth it (I seized a rear caliper).
Any input is much appreciated
Cheers

1996 JDM spec ITR's have always floated around the $10K mark for the last 5 years or so. As the vehicle ages prices go down but as ITR hype builds prices go up or maintain. $9,500 is not completely out of line but as others have said, a RHD variant isn't the most desirable and most enthusiasts would rather wait for a nice LHD North American version to come along and pay the premium to get it.

Integgy I heard you can still get OEM ITR brake calipers from Lordco. Might be worth checking with them with the Revscene discount.
For those who currently or used to autoX their ITR, did you have any issues blipping the throttle and then shifting down from 2nd into 1st for a hair pin turn? I was much faster when dropping into 1st on a hair pin on Sunday.
Did you normally shift while braking or at the exit?
Any grinds with heal toe then down shifting to 1st gear?

Lordco has nada for ITR calipers. Spoke with Acura last moth and they had a 2 month back order. Had my rears replaced 2 weeks ago, not too sure if the fronts but people say they are the same as the 12t gen CRV. Garage five hooked me up so try them.

Thanks for the opinion guys.
I still think I priced it reasonably. I understand prospective buyers will have reservation about the mileage, but I've tracked this car enough that I know its still a strong reliable motor.
Honestly, if the real transaction price is closer to 6-7k, I rather keep the car
Nothing in the sub 10k price range and run reliable sub 2 minute laps at the Ridge.
Regarding 96 Spec R rear brakes, if its all stock, it should run the same caliper with local Integra GSR, not same as the local Type R.

Complete engine swap? (Kills resale)
Complete engine rebuild? What's that cost?

????? | That's about it. It's a project more than anything and most of the collectability is gone so the mileage doesn't hold the kind of weight it would if it was stock. Even if you put everything back to stock there are still holes in the floor from the roll bar which would need to be welded shut. If the block is still stock bore then putting new OEM pistons in (81.25mm overbore) is possible. Tough to justify even $25K knowing what you need to do to it to get that collector money. And it would be too pricey to start a project with it. Just my $0.02

????? | The car prob has been modded quite a bit and has a history. There is stuff they can hide behind panels that unless you take it apart you can't see. Plus 78,000 km and it already has aftermarket pistons and engine work? Did the previous owner blow up the engine at like 60,000kms? Or did they swap the instrument cluster?
If I am paying that much money for collector I am only buying first owner vehicles from the owner and not a third party

Rears unfortunately are ITR exclusive.

I got my fastest time by dropping to first for a hair pin corner at the end of Western Speedway. There was enough of a straight after the turn to make it worth while.
Hair pin is at the top left of this map.

^ looking at these makes the 78k ITR locally seem like a good deal. $25,000 alittle to high but at 20-22 maybe not so bad?
Minus the holes for the turbo, cage holes the exterior is 9/10 and those are easy to fix. The forged pistons and finding someone to fix the engine seems to be the hard part. G5, Tss seem to busy and i don't think a honda/acura dealership will take the project on knowing the pistons have swapped out with low compression forged pistons.

Yes compared to what it is on the market. Maybe swap in a JDM B18C5 and run that until you can get someone to rebuild the original motor.

Oh man. That is quite a project. 11k gets you a theft recovery 186kms with rusty quarter panels, no motor or trans, missing rear seats etc.
