Headlight Restoration

Could anyone recommend me a shop that offers headlight restoration?

Preferably, one that could come to our shop in North Van rather than us coming to them.

Thanks!

Glass or plastic? Is it just the lenses that need a refresh or are the housings/electrical components messed etc?

They're plastic, and it is just the lenses that need a refresh.

I used a Meguiars kit with a rotary buffer drill attachment, on my 2000 Legacy. Turned out really good actually. Curious to know what a shop would charge for this service and what they would do different.
If they need to truly be restored, I'm guessing they're old enough that you could just find a better set of used headlights, whatever the vehicle might be. I have a rare car from Japan and a simple search on Yahoo auctions will yield some pretty nice and affordable headlights to replace mine on my car, as I'm tempted to do so.

I know it's a PITA, but if you can removing the headlights it will make the job much easier. A solid multi step approach to polishing them should give great results. Spend a day and DIY!

Just a question for you guys,

you guys use the Meguiar's one step restoration kit or the heavy duty one?

1000 grit wet, 2500 grit wet, hand polish, you will have great success.. I would only removed headlights if I couldn't easily mask surrounding painted area.

Cake walk, don't bother paying someone else to do it. GL

If all you do is use the one step resto kit your results will not comapre.. wet sanding out all the fine scratches will work waaaaaayyy better and lat much longer.

MindBomber 11-16-2015 07:28 PM

hm, I would rather pay someone else to do it because I have so little spare time.

I think I will do it myself since it is a quick, simple job, though.

I'll post an update with the result.
