Im headed up to Whistler for the weekend.. Pretty stoked!

If anybody is selling a single day lift ticket please let me know

PeP 12-19-2015 08:34 AM

Whistler was a blast. We left least night and it was snowing like crazy! Whoever was going up is probably hitting some major pow today.

I had no issues with the RFID chips; kept mine in my bottom left pocket, about a foot and a half away from the scanner and it still was able to read it without issues through the jacket.

Riding hungover is pretty exhausting.

cypress today !

edit : it was so nice today! so much snow! so many people!!!. unfortunately i couldnt do all of the runs because my friend had to go home early and i was their ride home :QQ: i need to go back!!!! blue was super powdery i love it

road conditions werent bad at all. but if you're going to park at the paid parking area closer to the entrance i would advise you to have winter tires or AWD. gets really snowy near the end of the day. other than that it's totally fine

i'm probably gonna go back to cypress on new years day

was at whistler 2 weekends ago, pretty good snow - cypress last night was amazing though. fresh pow on every run I went on, busy as hell during the day but tapered off noticeably around 5pm. visibility was terrible as it got later cause cloud cover was low but other than that, perfect pow day. was lightly snowing on the way up but had stopped by the time we were coming down, awd and all seasons will do you for now. like gurl said tho at the higher lots you probably want snowies to be safe

The parking lot at Cypress was so full on Saturday. I parked all the way down at the end (in-line with the moguls judging tower)... but somehow there were minimal lines for the lifts? Where were all the people?
I slashed Bowen West Glades a few times. People were cheering at me from the chair. I didn't really think I was doing anything worthy of being cheered at?
Got to demo a GNU Beast. Good board. Nice and nimble in the trees (Bowen West Glades and Top Gun approved) but it seemed to lack power on the groomers. Could have just been my front foot angle. Who knows.

Then Whis on Sunday. HFS. Face shots on every single run.

Franz's and Lower VD until peak opened.
5th person through Whis bowl.
First tracks down Shale Slope
Then 3 or 4 laps through Christmas Trees.
Then Cockalorum
Then Hourglass
Then Harveys
Then a hike to Flute where I was completely alone through the Flute Chute. Fresh tracks at 2pm!

First time in a long time that I missed last lift for both Harmony and Green chair. Had to go all the way to Garbo to hook on to Dave's to get back to Creekside.

Xu.Vi 12-23-2015 11:14 PM

Hitting up cypress on boxing day. pls b empty!

underscore 12-23-2015 11:24 PM

This season has been awesome so far, the vis and wind and Big White have been less than stellar on a lot of days but I hit a sort of secret spot at 2:30 yesterday and still hit freshies the whole way down.

westopher 12-24-2015 12:56 PM

Seymour was sick this morning. Pow slashes, side hits and cat track drops. Got pretty busy when I left around 12:30, and Brockton wasn't open, but still a great day.

went up to cypress again yesterday with a couple buddies - absolutely amazing. i havn't been going as regularly as i have been this year for the last few years, but yesterday was the best pow day in recent memory. crystal clear visibility the whole night, powder waist deep at some areas. quite a bit of traffic with that said though

"Power out at Cypress and they aren't telling thousands of people waiting in line that the chairs aren't running.Going home and no refund. Absolute bullshit. Don't come to cypress"

friend posted on fb about an hour ago lol

GabAlmighty 12-28-2015 01:59 PM

Heading to Big White tomorrow until the 3rd. Hopefully catch some good snow up there.

underscore 12-28-2015 04:09 PM

I hit up Big White for the afternoon, awesome snow after the last few days of it dumping but the runs and main tree areas are pretty used up. I still managed to find knee to thigh deep freshies in a few secret spots late in the afternoon though, so I'm tempted to go up tomorrow for the morning before going to work.

Jumping is easy....it's landing that's the hard part ;)

the North Shore mountains are trying to figure out some traffic control measures over the holiday break.

At Cypress and Grouse, there are no specific traffic control measures in place
So not mountains, just mountain... and then Seymour has done controlled release up the road for years now too. :squint:

Looks like 7a for dawn patrol is now a necessity :p

Landing isn't too bad either, it's getting rid of the speed without eating it that usually gets me.
