Depends on the day obviously. Weather changes. Pay attention to the forecast. Its been snowing up there quite a bit, so I'd say if its 8 degrees or lower and raining in the city, you're likely fucked if you aren't an experienced snow/slush driver.

My rule of thumb was 6 degrees for cypress and 10 degrees for whistler.

I went up Blackcomb with Altus Mountain Guides for StokeFest today.
The guides are so so very laid back even in the gnarly conditions. I wish I had even half the confidence Joey Vosburgh and Justin Lamoureux do.

Dude. WTF no. Just break out the monoski if you want to be weird.

But let me get this straight:
Through the "traditional" progression, you start working up through stiffer boards and stiffer boots. Big mountain col slashers and pro splitboard guides even rock hardboots and wire bindings with near 0- flex.

Now some crazy people come along and claim that the future of snowboarding is by throwing out all the carving power and replacing it with a lazy susan.

Extra bonus: in the setup demo video, they show it off with Sorrel mukluks.

So the binding is free to swivel all the time? Sounds like a shortcut to getting hurt while having horrible control over your board to me.

Gh0stRider 03-20-2016 09:12 PM

i think in one of the videos it says you can lock it when carving on heels or toes, not sure how that works

On the short skin out and then the ride out on the cat track, we got to talking about The Backyard Project. He seemed super stoked that I liked the part about canoeing to the line just as much as I liked the shredding parts of the videos :p.

Super nice guy.

Gh0stRider 03-21-2016 06:30 PM

got the face mask + decal today

underscore 03-21-2016 08:45 PM

Got both of mine as well.

I'm starting to like the plus.whistlerblackcomb.com gimmick more and more.

vitaminG 03-30-2016 06:06 PM

anyone been to cypress recently? was thinking of going night skiing after work if its not too slushy

YK86 03-31-2016 01:01 AM

Cypress is only open during the day now from 9-4 and closed completely Monday Tuesday which really sucks cuz I usually go after work at night or on Mondays when I'm off. Snow is spring like, its not bad but if you haven't waxed your board in a while, do it before you go.

Anyone been to Seymour lately? Do they still have decent snow or is it half bald like Grouse?

ancient_510 05-30-2016 07:03 PM

Winter 2015-16 complete! :fullofwin:

ancient_510 07-25-2016 10:33 AM

Winter 2015/16 lives forever!
Yesterday's tour. Red line ascent, blue line descent.

320icar 07-25-2016 10:56 AM

Stunning! Last year was my first ever skiing. Hopefully I can make it out a bunch more times this next year. Now that my hours have vastly changed I can also do cypress night runs too

heisenberg 09-04-2016 10:39 PM
