my condo also denied installing chargers as the cost for it was to high. The issue is, the building is older and the power units can not accommodate for the extra power usage. in order to get it going we will need to upgrade a lot of things plus pulling power cables to the parkade. as well as taking away some visitor parking to accommodate for the charging spots. Another issue that was brought up was, how long should one park there and who will enforce it.

^^ from the strata I've seen, you have to pay to use the charger, so I guess if you don't leave they keep charging you.

Part of adding all of this EV infrastructure would mean updating your strata bylaws. Within the bylaws, you'd also include restrictions on usage of the chargers and the spaces with up to $200 fines from the strata for people who don't follow them.

The strata would have to enforce it (same way they enforce all other bylaws and visitor parking).

Ford just announced to adopt NACS (the Tesla chargers connector standard for those not familiar).

I think this is a similar day to the day that Warners bros announced they were going with Blu-ray going forward as their disc format of choice.

Great news as we might finally put an end to different charging connectors and have a single format going forward.

That seems backwards to me, if every other car maker aside from Tesla is using another connector, why switch to Tesla's connector? Its like if an Android phone manufacturer switched to using the lightning port over USB C.

And I thought Tesla just opened up its network to other cars with an adaptor, does this mean they will stop that and focus their efforts on this instead?

Tesla’s connector is superior in every form and shape and metric. It’s smaller (by a large margin), supports both DC and AC, faster charging eventually (support up to 1 mw, ccs is up to 500kw theoretically iirc) and more robust (ccs has communication pins on the top of the connector, in time, it develops an angle since gravity keeps pushing everything downward by simple wear and tear, affecting the communication to establish handshake between car and chargers. Many ccs chargers can’t work for this reason).

Lightning is only the Apple standard, but usb c is better in every other way. So, your logic doesn’t apply here.

Smart move by Tesla to force adoption of their NACS adapter. Winning the adapter wars will be a massive win for them.

It's isn't it also one less reason to buy a Tesla? Their charging network is a big plus for them. Also won't Tesla owners be pissed with Fords taking up spots?

E-Bikes Rebates in BC

https://bcebikerebates.ca/programpolicies/

TL;DR version:

- effective June 1
- must be 19 or older
- min purchase price of e-bike = $2k
- must keep e-bike for a minimum of 2 yrs

rebate amount:
income under $38950 -- $1400
income between $38951 to $51130 -- $1000
income over $51131 -- $350

With an income of over $51k, I'd have to say the $350 rebate isn't all that attractive. But if I can somehow throw enough deductions to make my net income fall into the $1k rebate range, then all of a sudden it would be pretty attractive...

If the 3rd-parties charging of Tesla in Europe and a few in US is any indication, it's more expensive for non-Teslas to use SC.

And TBH, I'm not worried. Tesla makes the best EVs out there at each of its price points. Picking anything else, one'd be sacrificing something in order to gain whatever "one-up" the other carmaker decided to do to compete with Tesla. But taking everything as a whole, S3XY are hard to beat.

Looks like you have to apply first to hold your rebate, then buy and take delivery of the ebike within 30 days. Once you take delivery, then you complete the rebate. You lose the rebate unless you let them know delivery is going to be over 30 days.

This program so strange. The funding ran out in the first 5mins of opening.

This program was clearly aimed at helping lower income ppl get an ebike. Who the fuck releases this program on a Thursday morning, when you know, most ppl that this program benefits HAS TO WORK?

Official announcement of the 3 row version of the ID.Buzz. It's only 193 inches long which is a bit shorter than expected. It's a pretty manageable size IMO. Seems they may not have upgraded that ridiculous infotainment system though. I'd still wish they'd offer the 2 row version with this powertrain though.

https://driving.ca/reviews/preview/2...clusive-5-seat

To add to this update, Canadian market will have the short wheel base exclusively as the base model, long wheel base being a higher trim model.

EDIT: I was quick to read the article, to clarify the base model will be the long wheel base but with the 5 seat option

They updated the infotainment - it's using a new version-ish, with lighted HVAC and more hard buttons.

Code:
The van will also get an updated version of VW's infotainment and climate control systems, with backlit temperature sliders and climate controls accessible from the bottom of the screen.

Why not just move on and get a different vehicle? It's been 3 years, the Toyota just isn't worth the wait.
