Maybe an Outlander PHEV? I think it is related to the Rogue.

+1

Outlander PHEV is no wait the last time I checked... I wouldnt drive it to the ground, but it has a super long warranty, should be more than enough to cover the first owner timeline

GM joined the party too for NACS. I think it pretty much sealed the deal for the future charging per standard for US and Canada.

I've said this for years that the only way anyone else can seriously challenge Tesla is to adopt their NACS. The Tesla supercharging network is so much better than anything else out there. I really like Tesla's but would definitely consider getting something like a Rivian if it had the ability to use the Tesla chargers.

I think with Ford and GM both in the NACS camp, Rivian would be the next to follow suit.

It's got the least amount of pain and much to gain. It's surprising that GM actually beat them for the next after Ford.

Wonder if there is a way to retrofit NACS onto existing j1772 plugs

Tesla pushed, but ccs type 2 was mandated by EU government. Tesla has no choice. Much like how EU mandate to use USB type C for cellphones.

I visited Shenzhen earlier this week and there's a whole world of new-to-me EVs in the city. I know the country is going through a big EV transition, but it's pretty cool to see the breadth and depth of options at all price points compared to the rest of the world. Many of them look nice enough for international audiences IMO.

I’d buy a Ching Chong ling long EV if they were here *better be like 20k cheaper than a Tesla model 3* otherwise what’s the point.

I'd be willing to give a China Tezla EV a try as well.

Tesla Mobile chargers used to come with J1772 adapters so you can charge your car via level 2 chargers that are mainly the universal J1772. Now you have to purchase it separately for like $70.

Yea man, I think China ev has already surpassed all global players, Toyota, Honda, bmw, Benz, vw, USA besides Tesla can just go home. Battery tech, battery swap technology, I don't think even lucid and rivian will really gain much traction at this rate.

So my Tesla order got a sad update. I had to either cancel or accept a China battery which dropped the Model Y LR from 531km to 497km. Would have been nice if the price point dropped by a few hundred but of course not. I guess the US is no longer sending cars to Canada for tax incentive reasons.

^I suppose you gain better build quality in exchange for the lost range - didn't know the other versions are coming from China as well.

LFP battery is great. It can handle many more cycles than the nickel cobalt battery. You can charge it to 100% without an issue even for daily. Realistically you’ll have the nickel cobalt battery set to 80% which is still fine at 424km. LFP is also much more difficult to combust when punctured.

Didn't you post about this in the Lower Mainland Tesla Group on Facebook? Everyone had said you were better off getting the chinese made MY, I don't know why you would cancel the order. The slightly lower estimated range is a great trade off for the LFP battery and better build quality.

Not me, I'm not in that group. Also I was reading that it's not an LFP battery for the LR. That's only for the RWD but don't quote me on that.

China made ones are far superior to the USA ones from what I’ve read.

I've read the same thing which makes sense. It's a new plant so you would hope that they've improved the tooling and processes involved.
