Shit, that's nuts. I've had two model 3's over the last 5 years (2018 rwd lr and 2021 dual motor) and combined, i have had less warranty issues than you.

2019 Model 3 SR+ here, these were my warranty issues off the top of my head

Front upper control arms
Creaky steering column when turning
Condensation in tail light
Condensation in tail light again
Condensation in rear back up camera
Spontaneous crack on rear roof glass
Right license plate light burnt out
Passenger seat belt buckle malfunction, entire seat replaced
Heater core failed right before warranty expired

Despite all the issues, I still like the car for the most part.

From what I've heard China ones are much better, so China > USA . The two 3s we've had wasn't as bad? And so far everything was taken care of mostly by mobile service.

#1 rear sub frame? Drive unit? I forgot which was replaced due to some squeak, chunk, passenger seat belt warning, sensor replace and still monitoring if it pops back up, front control arms replaced due to squeak. I think one of the corner trail lights replaced due to condensation.

#2 rear tail light from condensation water, random interior rattle in hot out cold temp that hasn't been fixed, random plastic tab? They fell out so under tray dangled, pending service for squeaking front suspension when turning the wheel at low speed + clunk.

My 2018 had to get the upper control arm lubricated and the turn stalk replaced.

My 2021 had a wiper arm that needed to be replaced because it was hitting the other arm and made a mark on it

Dealing with these small issues that cost me nothing is still better than getting my oil changed every 5000 km, spending money on gas, or any of the other drawbacks of ICE ownership.

I'm starting to be more convinced that Alfa Romeo is way more reliable and better QC than Tesla.

Alternatively, I thought you were referring to JKYK or something. It was near the Future Shop iirc, and I never went inside to find out what they sell.

Do you mean JYSK?

Ok back on topic.

My wife and I have been considering a secondary vehicle for longer trips for a more comfortable ride. The Corolla iM is not comfortable for trips over 6 hours long. And plus, we are getting old.

We joked around at the Avalon which is discontinued, and managed to find some good examples, but it's at a weird price point where it makes more sense to move up into a Lexus ES350. But the Toyota Crown came out. We're in Vancouver this week and went to check it out in the flesh at Destination Toyota. And let me be brutally honest - it is actually a really nice car. It looks ugly in photos but in person, it's not so bad. The interior is really nice and fit and finish is what you expect from a Made in Japan Toyota. The engine has grunt, even for the lower trim XLE (discontinued for 2024) and that suspension - holy shit. It was smooth as butter.

But at this price point $55K/$65K there are other alternatives out there such as a fully electric vehicle (not within our scope for now) and other hybrids, or gas powered cars. 68style is going to fail me for this but if you are ever in the market for a bizarre vehicle that really wows you for daily driving and want to get hated on and judged by people, the Toyota Crown is for you.

For shits and giggles, we sat in the Supra. My wife likes it over the Boxster so we may consider this instead.

Also to note: We searched all over the GTA and in Vancouver. Whenever a Crown comes in, they are often sold within a week or two of arrival. There is a market for these but I am genuinely curious who is weird enough to want this (I am probably one of them.)

bcdrukes wife to me: "I hate BMWs so much"

Also bcrdukes wife: Sits in Supra and thinks it's great

No comment on the Crown other than to say I feel like you found your first white pube the other day and this is the knee-jerk response.

It’s not THAT bad…. To be honest if you look at a 7 series or a m2 or a m3/4 or iX there are a lot worse looking cars out there.

Honestly in the right colours it’s pretty decent.

On the topic of a Crown. We saw one in San Diego. It actually works and I thought it was actually decent looking. Wife thought it looked weird though.

On the topic of a road trip vehicle, get a SUV, but don't get a Rav4. There's almost zero insulation and you have to yell at each other at 110. I want to say BMW X1 but it's 60k with taxes with basic options. It hands down beats everything in it's class even though Savagegeese had nothing good to say about it.

Actually you can probably road trip the Supra, so just get that
One size fits all.

What my wife doesn't know (yet) is the next Supra in 2025 is basically a BMW

And boy, does she hate BMW.

Joking aside, the trunk space works for what we need for a road trip with the cover removed. Edit: I hit submit too early.

SUV - I really want to avoid getting one. I don't see the appeal of them and want to avoid getting one. The primary reason is the size of our one-car garage (we live in a townhouse.) A lot of our neighbours have SUVs and they have a hard time parking them inside.

I thought you were moving back to Vancouver?

Hence why I said X1. The footprint is quite small, easily smaller than the Supra. I thought the same way before but I guess cause I have kids. It's just so much easier with a SUV to just huck everything in and not have to slowly tetris every time you need to get something.

You can always get around the driving dynamics by paying more Something like a Macan GTS would solve that problem.

Wagon? Used panamera, c43 wagon, e wagon? A7, a5, stinger? Integra? Most small SUVs I find pretty pointless cuz leg room is small, rear hatch is super sloped so it's not like you get much trunk space as the car is already short.
