In the states those ppl end up in Nissan's and Mitsubishi's as they'd finance anyone with or without a pulse. Also why the Big Altima Energy meme comes in. In Canada I'd say it's relatively rare. Not saying it's impossible but predatory loans are harder to pull off. |

Most of the time though, clients know ahead of time even before taking the deposit. The conversation started with "Jacky, how good are your finance mangers? Would they be able to get me approved, because I am XYZ?" My answer is always "we will try our best to do what we can." |
Apparently the prototype of the "manual" EV system from Toyota is quite good. I love the idea of being able to have a fun car that's still usable by my wife: https://insideevs.com/features/69387...ission-tested/ Quote:

My question about this is -- the manual mode is implemented by limiting engine output to mimic ICE behaviour. So doesn't that mean ICE mode would not have access to full power under certain circumstances, whereas EV mode would be able to tap into its full power potential whenever it needs to? |
Why can't we put a smaller motor that doesn't spin as fast and stick it behind a manual tranny? Wouldn't we achieve better mileage that way? I'm imagining a Tamiya Jet Dash hooked up to a 6 speed tranny lmfao. |

There are EVs with transmission, Taycan has a 2-speed box. Tesla only has kinda the system you are talking about on its Semi where at highway cruising, the more powerful main motors would disengage, and only the cruising motor is moving the truck, but if the main motors are needed (say to climb or downhill as it regen power), it engages back seamlessly. Not a traditional transmission per se as it doesn't have a ratio or anything like that. It's just whether a motor is being powered/engaged or not. |

What's nuts is the government saying all departments have to have 75% of their vehicle fleets electric by 2030. That includes departments where 80% of the fleet is 1-tonne or 3/4-tonne trucks... of which there is no viable electric equivalent available OR planned lol |
pulling up next to the new hummer few nights ago, of which the battery alone weighs significantly more than the entirety of my GVWR conveniently at the height of my head :lol |

They do all their gov orders through a national fleet section that only deals with gov orders out of HQ... dealers get diddly squat even though these things show up at their dealership for delivery lol |
oh geeeeee lololol btw shamless plug - we have a 2024 Tucson Hybrid (not a plug in, just hybrid) Ultimate trim black on black Incoming dec 05th $47,427 + 12% tax = $53,118.24 out the door all said and done for reference, building the exact spec on Hyundai.ca = $52,525.76 |
https://www.whatcar.com/news/2024-ho...evealed/n26018 Honda's releasing a PHEV version of their CR-V in Europe - out this past October. It's really just their hybrid with a big battery and I really liked their hybrid (more than even my RDX). Not sure how heavy it is with the big battery though as the hybrid isn't exactly quick at nearly 4000lbs. I'd sure be interested in finding how how good it is though. |
Goes to show you how disconnected these politicians even are. Imagine California thinking they will ban any new sales of ice vehicles by 2035 :lol |
I really wonder why Honda Acura is dragging their feet on ev / phev. They have the tech but won't release in na, even Mazda has phev. Honda e? I feel like by the time they release it here everyone else would have gotten their market share or went full ev already. |

CR-V e:PHEV: £45,895 (UK) RAV4 Prime: £47,395 (UK) Nope. I don't get it: why would anyone choose the CR-V PHEV?? |
Quote:
But it most definitely is not Rav4 Prime fast. |

And some young people. My wife never even hit VTEC in her Prelude. The 2GR is complete overkill for her in the Rav4 but I'd still want a Prime if we ever have to replace it lol. |
I find it a bit strange that Honda is releasing the CRV PHEV over in Europe instead of doing it here in N.America. Honda as a brand is not very popular in Europe -- it's mostly viewed as a company with boring cars for old people. Their best markets with the most favourable brand reputation are really just Japan and the US. (Although I think they are also popular in the Guangdong and Hubei provinces in China.) The car really would have made more sense here in N.America. |
is cr-v more comfotable than rav4? non-prime i found wasn't very pleasant to be in and ive only been around cheap cars for life |
I dunno about the new ones but I sat in one from around 16? The turbo ones with engine issues. And I was surprised how roomy the back seats were. Way more leg room than older rx330 rx350, Rav4 and x5 |
Really ?! I had a 2013 CRV for a lease before and it was terrible. Albeit it was a LX AWD trim CRV but it was genuinely garbage. Interior was garbage, rat fur seats, stiff as a rock cushions and hard plastics everywhere. Space in the second row wasn’t that great either. https://i.postimg.cc/Y9vP39Yt/IMG-1003-Original.jpg The RX my dad had / the wife currently has seems infinitely more spacious and comfortable. After owning that CRV for 3 years it made me swear off CRVs all together |

I find the Rav4 to be ugly, a bit crude, and cheap looking both inside and out so I'd never be able to convince myself to own one but the CR-V Hybrid is a winner in my books. |
Yea I just sat in the back to go to dinner for like 20 min and I was so surprised. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mot...yota-rav4/amp/ |
