most ICE sees at least 3 owners before scrapped?

i just wish there is an efficient way to recapture a good chunk of the losses to heat (braking, combustion) without a heavy and complex system

JDMDreams 11-24-2023 12:33 PM

^ I just laugh at the people who floor it in the city then just to have to hard brake for red lights. At least with ev you can Regen battery back.

whitev70r 11-24-2023 03:14 PM

^ me too, I'm so impressed with people who get to the red light much faster than me :lol.

We’re getting there little by little. I’m confident with the whole world working on this as a whole, there will be positive momentum to address today’s concerns, in the future.

Badhobz 11-28-2023 10:58 AM

guy at work just picked up a model Y over the weekend. He said it came with 80% charge and then after driving it for one day, it was down to 38%. im like wtf? how far did you go? hes like less than 100km's.

Now hes complaining that it loses 2-3% battery every day sitting at home. He doesnt have a 240v charger so hes just been topping it up on 120 and apparently its giving him range anxiety

these ev's really dont like the cold. DARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how much range did you lose on yours again!?

Supposedly the LFP batteries don't like the cold much

If it goes unplugged over night, it loses about 3 to 5% due to Sentry mode kicking in.

Also if you start the morning without warming up the batteries, the range goes down hill fast in the cold.

42% usage on 100km, if you calculate 90% usage,.it's only about 214km

JDMDreams 11-28-2023 12:08 PM

Is he cranking on Max heat and heated seats. But you high rollers make enough money to pay for gas, evs are for poor people who can't afford gas:troll:

Badhobz 11-28-2023 12:20 PM

he paid for the dual motor + bigger wheels + paint color (black !!) man that car is like 80k or something.

Im like why on earth would you pay for paint and then get black of all things. I guess if it ever chips, he wont even notice it because 1) it'll be dirty like all the time 2) the primer is black so even if some paint is missing its harder to spot

80k just to save on gas seems insane to me.

plus he wants to get a contractor to run 240v in his house, so now thats an extra 30-50k just so he can charge the damn thing

Long Range dual motor, black, optional wheels with current discounts should be $68,851.20 out the door, tax in, max $9k rebate

240v on his house....might as well run an extension cord to the laundry plug or stove plug :troll:

EDIT: Unless it's the performance model y, then the 80k price tag makes sense

30-50k for 240v is complete bullshit. My house has 100 amp service to it and my neighbour is an electrician and charged me less than $100 for the parts to install my charger and it took about 1.5-2 hours to install. We have central AC, the usual appliances and two EV's (we only charge one at a time). Unless he is having to upgrade the service to his house and upgrade his box because he lives in a shitty old house, your numbers make no sense.

Why would your friend go out and buy a vehicle that he needs to charge at home without thinking about how he's going to charge it first?

JDMDreams 11-28-2023 02:27 PM

This was back in July....

As you can see from the photo = 21 degrees at 10pm at night

100KM travelled since 100% charge, and I was down to 62%

That mean theoretically a full charge in july = 263KMs from a car that advertised at 430+ KM

Yes, I do drive like a dick but lololol.

I cant tell you what I am getting now cuz I don't even have my car lololol, its at the service center for .... you guessed it... warranty work...

No range anxiety though, I top up at work (home has level 2 as well just in case), I am not gonna drive 200KM a day...I remember that 100KM day was like... FUUU thats so much city driving lololol never again hahaha.... So for me, it works, I get full charge everyday and I can dick around with WOT all day and not feel guilty...

I like how it gives you a false sense of hope with the TPMS warning.
"Pressure sensor fault may clear next drive."

I'd rather the entire dashboard light up like a Christmas tree and flash a sign, "Please see dealer." (Hello, Alfa Romeo.) :lol

Mine is a Long Range Dual Motor, I got about 400km to a "tank" over the last couple days. In the summer, I usually get somewhere in the 475-500 km to a tank.

The biggest factor is your driving style, then the weather.

That’s what he told me. I don’t see why he would lie. Your numbers make even less sense you clown. Your Neighbor installed it. Go ask a contractor and see what kinda numbers they’ll give. Especially when the dude lives in kits in an old house. I’m sure those contractor are just looking to rape his ass.

Unless he is paying hyrdo to run new services to his home and massively upgrading his panel too, it shouldn't cost more than a couple thousand dollars to pull permits, pay for labour and parts to install a tesla charger that is hardwired at 240v.

If he wants to do it cheaper, just hire an electrician to install a 240v plug in the garage and use the tesla travel charger. I used one of those for roughly 3 years.

maybe your friend has old knob and tube wiring in his house and he has to get the whole thing re-wired to get the charger installed. If this is the case, then the he would need to get it re-wired just so he isn't charged an extra premium for insurance. Your friend is clearly blaming the tesla charger for him having to shell out a shit tonne of money to get something else done so he can get the charger installed. This isn't a Tesla problem, it's his house that is the problem.

Badhobz 11-29-2023 04:32 AM

I didn’t say it’s a Tesla problem. I just said it’ll cost him that much to run 240v and you come in saying it’ll cost 100 bucks and 2 hours of labor.

Yeah he has an older house and it’s probably some old ass wiring that requires upgrading. So 30-40k is realistic isn’t it ?

I don’t know why you gotta suck elons dick so damn hard. We get it. EVs work for you and your wife cuz you commute like 100km a day. Blah blah blah no need to become EV mormons and start preaching sermons.

He can’t get any discounts from BC. Makes too much money. Lawl.

What he's really trying to say, is to get your coworker to hire the neighbor for $100 instead of wasting 30k. He just didn't know how to get the words out and to connect the two together.

2019, 13,000km. yes under warranty SwiftRage

Badhobz 11-29-2023 03:11 PM

I wonder how much that’s gonna be if it was out of warranty.

How can the battery pack go bad after only 13,000kms. Jesus Christ.
