There was a fellow on Rennlist with a 2018 Porsche Panamera e-hybrid that JUST ran out of warranty and his battery died 7 days after the warranty period. Car is worth $30,000 maybe? Porsche quoted him $26,000 for replacement battery. No goodwill from Porsche either. :lol |

1 year ago I saw the unit price for a 75kwh battery is around 10000cad in China... I will ask Tesla what's the unit price today, I read the TMC forum they said it is 9000usd now in USA |
A few anecdotes from the LA Auto Show: VW ID7 - Was surprisingly nice inside out. Proportions are weird and has a generic look. Completely overshadowed by the ID Buzz next to it. https://i.ibb.co/GnnsS1n/ID7.jpg VW ID Buzz - Cool styling, but otherwise felt like a standard-issue minivan. I didn't like the fixed second row window - there's a small cutout for the second row passengers to open. https://i.ibb.co/VDHRWbT/ID-Buzxz.jpg https://i.ibb.co/VQpFQxN/Idbuzz-cutout.jpg Kia EV9 - Easily my favorite EV at the auto show. Nice and roomy in all rows. Second row on the flagship trim power reclines and has leg rests just like JDM minivans. https://i.ibb.co/H76zhzw/EV9.jpg Hyundai Ioniq 5 Disney 100 Edition - Why??? Hope it comes with free Disney+ https://i.ibb.co/Byhh5Sm/I5-Mickey.jpg Hyundai Ioniq 5 N - The ricey aesthethic is not my cup of tea - too much visual drama https://i.ibb.co/7knYmtm/I5N.jpg Lotus Electre - Inoffensive styling - looks like one of those sleek Nio Chinese EVs https://i.ibb.co/MscvrX7/Electre.jpg Honda Prologue - It's wide and low with big wheels. Sized basically like a Lyriq. https://i.ibb.co/ZxVS5KN/Prologue.jpg Acura ZDX - A better-looking Prologue. Not sure why it has 3 color schemes going on the exterior (body / fender flare / rocker panel) - makes it look incohesive. https://i.ibb.co/f2zPzdx/ZDX.jpg Lucid Sapphire - Would 100% if I had FU money. This thing looks like fire. https://i.ibb.co/bgQtYSk/Sapphire.jpg Lucid Gravity - Looks like an ID4 XL but bougie'd up. https://i.ibb.co/gw6SQ18/Gravity.jpg Coolest Sighting from the trip: https://i.ibb.co/2NrRXTG/Cybertruck.jpg |

I wouldn't touch a Hyundai/Kia that was built in the last decade with a 10 foot pole..gas or electric. |
Disclaimer: I have not yet watched the video clip Wouldn't Hyundai cover this under their warranty? They have that 10+ year warranty as one of their market differentiators, no? (I openly stand corrected as I do not follow Hyundai's products whatsoever.) |

Damn, son. And no goodwill from them either. PHEV/Hybrid world is cut throat. :inoutugh: |
this is why corolla LE is best car for poor people... just in case some shit fails, it wont cost you an arm and a leg. Buy a used one and drive it till the wheels fall off. |

How were the 3rd row seats in that and the EV9? And how was accessing the 3rd row, any particular annoyances of note? I can't understand why Toyota can't do an EV Sienna TRD Pro. They do a hybrid, they do a lifted Woodlands trim, they're almost there!! |
I’m on my way to Montreal this morning and I got in this 2017 Prius V taxi. The guy showed me his odo and it is at 999,999 and it can’t go any higher. I asked him if he needed to replace anything and he said just brakes every 300,000km. Even the hybrid battery is original. He said the older Priuses they need to replace hybrid battery at 300-500,000km but the newer ones can last a million plus. He then proceeded to tell me he has a tattoo of Toyota on his shoulder. I’m like yeah I totally identify with that. No wonder they drive these things around. Even with a million KMs on it, it still felt pretty tight and no worse for wear than anything else from 2017. |
Jesus, I'm surprised the odometer didn't roll over! And Montreal roads, too! |
Not Montreal. It’s from my house to YVR. This Richmond taxi. |
I stand corrected! |

Lololol I cant comment on Hyundai in general, but my client swapped his 2021 Kona EV into a 2023 Kona EV earlier this year. Main motivation were - heated rear seats - getting out of the car while the car still worked 100% and exhibiting 0 problems He had 197,000 KM on his original Kona EV, and he said all he did was tires + windshield wiper fluids + 1 set of wipers, still on original brakes with more than 50% pads remaining. So, who knows, could be like my Tesla. I did a fair bit of research and as far as I know, I have the worse model 3 ownership experience within 20 owners of 3 and Ys within my circle of friends lololol hahahaha (still looking for a 3 performance though!) |

Have to applaud the independent surrey garages this time - they have very affordable solutions on fixing those Toyota Batteries and they do it quick too. |
Dude told me and lo cost garage repair does their fleet work including hybrid battery cell replacement. It wasn’t the first time they mentioned this place https://maps.app.goo.gl/s3yY171jnRrLmwcQ7?g_st=ic |
another data point is that my mom just picked up her Prius XLE AWD (non-prime) after putting in her deposit about a month ago. Was told initially it could take up to 2- 3 years wait when she ordered, but I guess someone cancelled their order and they asked if she wanted it instead. |

I had more seat time with the EV9 because Kia was smart enough to bring 3 units for people to sit in. The seats are more comfortable than the Buzz and the cabin is wider and more airy. The interior is more premium overall (Buzz had a lot of hard plastics), though it's not fair to compare the two because these two cars belong to different segments. Quote:

Taxi dude said the new Prius isn’t that great for taxi service because it’s smaller than the V. He says most of these dudes are trying to get their hands on a rav4 hybrid or a sienna hybrid. I asked him about Tesla model 3 and he says there’s been a few of them in Vancouver but they all end up switching back because 1 can only drive one shift (10-12h) and 2, when their batteries do go, it’s way way more expensive to replace. He said the yellow cab guys all found it really poor range in the winter time. |
I wonder what happened to taxi drivers? I thought they said Ubers will kill them, but they seem to be doing fine. Ubers uses anything that runs, Kia, Hyundai, Accord, Tesla, Lexus |
