I find UBER simply added competition amongst them.

UBER once in a while end up being more expensive than calling a cab , especially those obscure hours to do airport runs.

Some of those UBER drivers are also Cab drivers too. :lol

only thing going for UBER is usually the cars feel cleaner inside and don't smell usually, thats about it. Majority of the time they aren't making phone calls either while driving.

EvoFire 12-05-2023 08:56 AM

Ubers in my experience aren't much cheaper than a taxi, and the proliferation isn't that great either so if you aren't DT it'll take awhile for one to pick up your ride and actually come get you. In so far it's basically just become another taxi service with an app and great marketing. The cons are a lot of the uber drivers don't actually know how to drive or know their way around town which makes for some real frustrating experiences.

Ubers/Lyfts are definitely not cheaper anymore but I like the convenience (easy to expense for work, more reliable). I'd disagree with them knowing their way - I find Uber drivers use navigation a lot more than taxis - I find that I always have to explain to the taxi driver how to get somewhere as most of them do not use navigation and I really don't want to talk to my driver.

My GF used to drive for Lyft in Los Angeles when she lived there and I have no idea how that was even possible... I can't imagine being her passenger, she constantly hesitates, doesn't know where she's going and thinks turns can only be made at 90 degree angles LOLOL

Badhobz 12-05-2023 09:49 AM

Wait a minute. An Asian woman driving Lyft ?!?!? Good luck everyone else.

Fiat Canada announced pricing for the 2024 Fiat 500e at $39,995. It's a nice lifestyle EV along the lines of the Cooper SE.

Quote:

The all-electric powertrain of the 500e delivers 118 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque and an estimated range of 240 km. The model is equipped with 85-kW charging capacity, which translates into 80-percent return of charge in about 35 minutes on a fast-charging station. Users can regain 50 km in just five minutes, according to Fiat.

Awww it’s not cute anymore. Now it looks kinda sleepy and lazy.

While awaiting delivery of the M2 I ordered (I hope it makes you vomit Badhobz!) I've been lent an I4 edrive 40.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f10330e4c8.jpg

I do like the colour (Portimao blue). It has various bits of M trim including massive brakes.

It weighs 5000lbs, but still drives rather well. It corners nice and level, it doesn't slop around over the bumps, and can really shift from 0-100. If I had to commute and battle my way into and out of the city I'd really love using this.

It has the same idrive screens and infotainment coming in the M2 which is great. Yeah, lots of buttons have moved to the screen but after a day or so I don't miss them. Volume, defog, etc, are physical. Climate is on screen but with a dedicated short cut.

The massive fake front end grill is :failed:

Used with sub 10k km, this "only" costs $70k +GST, but no PST is charged on it.

Kids like it, but the rear seats are narrow enough that using the car seat belt with a booster doesn't work with my existing seats. The booster is too wide and covers the receptacle.

Congrats Mr Bone ! Pretty sure you need your eyes checked but nobody can argue with the performance and handling

Exterior beauty isn’t everything

It looks like it's in a latex gimp suit.

Why would a dealer lend you a car??? They need to make the i3, a small car with that little range should have a range extender. Come to think of it now the volt/ frisker design is pretty good. A low maintenance motor just to charge not drive the wheels. So you can get rid of some of the complex transmission bits.

Pretty sure bmw dealers are bending over backwards to get customers.

He bought an m2. Those are like 100k now and with the interest rates nowadays he better have paid cash for it otherwise he’s giving them like an extra 30k for nothing.

I think I may have you beat.

Just recently picked up a Model Y, already in for warranty service because the steering wheel is off center and the wheels are possibly out of alignment :lawl:

JDMDreams 12-05-2023 02:48 PM

Is it a China y or a American y?

China Y base model, probably built by badhobz long lost cousin :lawl:

I like the car overall, the quality control is miles ahead on my 2019 Model 3.

Double pane glass front and rear, cuts down on the wind noise by a lot, same with tire noise
Rear cargo cover, I believe the pre china models did not come with it
Heated steering wheel and wipers compared to my 3
Softer suspension, less impact and boomy compared to my 3

But in terms of battery efficiency, I'll figure that out later when I do longer drives.

EDIT: Ordered on Nov 29th, Picked up on Dec 1st. warranty booked for today Dec 5

Meanwhile with Toyota, it's been a year since I've placed my deposit and no action so far regarding the Prius Prime

Badhobz 12-05-2023 03:43 PM

…… Lousy fucking rich ass cousins……… can’t build a fucking car to save their……..

Ohhhh hai there.

No - the closest version we're getting is the EX30.

I've been watching reviews of the #1 and it has a lot going for it. I really dig the cartoon-style infotainment with the animal sidekick and the interior seems well built and thought out. Performance and range seem decent as well, especially in the Brabus trim. Thinking about giving it a test drive when I'm in Hong Kong along with a few other models we don't have here.

tegra7 12-05-2023 07:08 PM

Had my seat bottom frame replaced for the second time in my Model 3. Mobile ranger came out to my home to replace it and gouged the paint on the sill panel. He owned up to it, still waiting to hear back from Tesla for them to fix it.

China Y SR+ and China 3 SR+ both use LFP battery.

Both are fine in Vancouver but the Toronto mans on RedFlagDeals are reporting much lower range in the winter, especially without preconditioning.

dark0821 12-05-2023 08:30 PM

My range sucks because I drive like a tool...

is350 12-06-2023 11:31 AM

^ I noticed this a lot with tesla drivers that I don't even see with bmw drivers, flooring almost everywhere. Just the other day, leaving work, there is a slight hill after a right turn, there is a ICE car behind me and then my coworkers tesla. We make our turn and accelerate normally, then my coworker goes into the left lane, floors it, cuts back into my lane and slams on the brake with a red light 150m away. I get it you don't have an engine that needs to be warmed up, but your still have a transmission that needs warming up.

BTW this post is not directly at you dark, just posting what I have observed during my commute

Traum 12-06-2023 12:19 PM

I think Teslas only have a single gear, so there is no actual transmission involved. The batteries will appreciate being warmed up, but they actually warm up faster in the winter if you drive the car with an on/off switch throttle type of mentality.
