^probably true. My wife hasnt ever sold any of her bags, but i do know her friend sells bag as a side hustle (shes a housewife so i guess its not really a side hustle). She buys a shit ton of hermes from different cities and sells them online to TheRealReal or some other websites.

She seems to enjoy it quite a bit since she loves bags & shoes and sells it for lawls. she doesnt need the money to be honest, but she makes good bank doing it.

reselling new bags is a thing???

can't people just buy them on the store's online site? or are they blocked due to IP address from another country?

Isn't this also a win for her friend because all that spending increases her status with these brands?

There are purchase quotas with luxury goods even when you have the means to pay - the value is all in its exclusivity and access. Usually these brands have customer profiles that are tracked globally, so they have data on you whether you buy a bag in Paris or RTW in Shanghai. Kinda like trying to buy a GT car.

Yes and no. They know she’s a reseller. If you piss off your SA or the store they’ll make sure you never get offered again. In all the years she’s been reselling Hermes’ she’s moved like probably over 800k worth of products and yet she only got offered 4-5 birkin / Kelly’s. She’s never been offered the “Golden Horseshoe” customization program like my wife or even a special edition of anything.

Some of the sough after bags from Chanel and Hermes are allocated like Rolex and Porsches. The luxury market is the same across all types. Some markets it's easier to get a hold of certain models. Porsches are hard but with watches and bags it happens all the time where gray market goods go around the world. There are also regional exclusives that are sought after elsewhere.

Its all about the relationship with your SA tbh.

800K for 4 to 5 Birkin is actually very good though, a family member was offered her first Birkin after probably 400K CAD in Shanghai. (we are related but thats it, they are like 10 levels above us lolololol)

My wife doesnt resell bags either and has dramatically slowed down probably in the last decade (not adjusted for inflation though), all her bags has gone up in value like crazy lololol

Actual wealthy people buys clothing (which we cant afford lolol), ie see how much Prada T-shirts/clothing go for, and realize that their bags are acutally really "good value" in comparison. The clothes don't even look good lmao

This.

My dumbass girlfriend buys these bags and says she'll "resell" them. The reality is they don't, they get attached and keep them mofos.

Even the ones she does resell, she doesn't garner a profit, you're lucky to get your money back at par. The market out there isn't as easy as you think it is, and selling bags isn't easy, FB pretty much bans any post you make when selling anything designer for the most part, which is annoying, therefore finding your market isn't simple as just posting it.

Reselling is absolutely a thing. They release special edition bags too.

Coworkers wife dropped off a special edition bag for cleaning or servicing or something...... Upon picking it up, some other chick in the store sees the bag and offers to buy it at more than what was paid for it. Coworkers wife declined the offer. Coworker was like wtf?!

Seriously... if any of your wife is into bag... just concentrate your $$$ on bags that are on the top of their list.

Don't waste money.

My wife used to bitch "oh, I want this. I want that". Got the top 3 she wanted. Problem fixed. We haven't spent on bags for the last 5 years.

It works out cheaper by FAR in the long run. Think it as an investment and you'd see why it's worth it.

Top bags are crazy expensive. But when people are spending 100k on a wedding, 20k on a diamond ring... even 15k on a Birkin is nothing.

And yes, Hermes at least are worth the money comparing to things like Gucci, Prada. The attention to detail is outta this world.

Man it doesn’t end. My wife got all her Hermes garbage but last Christmas she wanted a dior pattern canvas print tote. I said that thing is basically a tnt bag so I refused to buy it and instead forced her to buy the lady Dior bag in that same pattern. At least it’s a handbag and not a lousy “book tote”. That piece of shit book tote is like 5k and the handbag version is 7k. Fuck that tnt bag, I ain’t paying for that bullshit

Wow. I'm glad my wife hates all that stuff. All she wants is trail running gear, and a car that isn't broken or a death trap.

So, the only car she would want within your fleet is the 4Runner?

CX-70 leaked accidentally yesterday and now the announcements are going out across the board. Pretty disappointed by it - it's just a 2 row version of the CX-90 rather than a smaller version. Way too big for my needs - this puts the Crown Signia top of my list now and even that might be too big for my needs.

It's SO disappointing. I was hoping for a slightly smaller version and another 10k off the pricetag. This looks like you'll save maybe 2-3k. I'm not sure there's a market for it, or why they didn't just market it as the CX90 with 2 rows instead of an all new model name.

Can't you just remove the 3rd row seat from the CX-90? What a bizarre distinction.

Also, for bcrdukes: Handbag

The Passport is shorter by about 10 inches than the Pilot as is the Atlas Cross Sport compared to the Atlas. In this case it's the same car but just with the 3rd row removed which is ridiculous - that's just a fucking trim level (or it's just folding the 3rd row down).

My guess is that Mazda ran out of development $ at some point and had to kill the CX-70 as planned. I would have preferred they just sell the CX-60 here instead as that size works for me.

Putting out 1/2 baked products every now and then is the same habit that has been hurting Mazda's books as far back as I can remember. Wasn't their MX-30 experiment recent enough to remind them not to do this?
