Taycan depreciates like crazy. You can probably pick one up in the 2nd hand market for decent price.

I keep hearing people and YouTubers say this, but when I look stuff up on the local market (in Auto Trader, for example), I am not seeing that at all. They are all still $100k+ cars, and they were only $120k-ish when brand new.

The Vancouver used car market is a total enigma .... prices stay hella high because of the wealth in the city combined with dealers selling inventory to the state.
LA car market IMO is the best place to watch for true pricing ... then cut the price by another 10-20% if it's been on the lot for a hot minute.

Audi E-Tron RS GT is leasing for 699 a month rn with aggressive incentives + some negotiation.
https://forum.leasehackr.com/t/2024-...9-mo/527920/93

Taycan brand new is 15% discount in addition to 17500 rebate from Porsche.

180k+ base MRSP Turbo S now at 100k, been on the lot 2 months: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

108k+ base MRSP 4S now at 69k, been on the lot a month and a half: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

This is purely subjective isn't it?

Whether it costs less to run or not is kind of irrelevant if a person hates driving the vehicle.

Mom drives a Porsche cayenne s hybrid dad has a Tesla Model X. Dad bought both new. When they go anywhere they take the Tesla. Went to Vancouver a few days ago, Tesla. Going to Victoria for a few days next week, Tesla. I don't know how anyone could hate driving a Tesla.

Also $200 is $200.

I drove one for most of this last weekend, a M3P... I was bored to tears and didn't enjoy it. Except for the one foot driving, I kind of got used to that and could see that being a source of amusement.

It can be fast if you change modes, but all the bumping and crashing over uneven pavement which boomed in the interior, the heavy throttle pedal... and as a car enthusiast I feel dead inside without mechanical noises and engine revving. Pass.

Maybe as a commuter for work since nobody enjoys driving to/from work but as something that might amuse me when going places, zero chance I'd take one up.

It's definitely great if you just want to go about your day and not think about anything, just be transported from 1 place to another with little bother and minimal input into anything.

This is also subjective. Why did you buy the V10 R8 instead of the V8? $50,000 is $50,000 lol

The V10 was local and the cheapest V10 with a manual in North America. It's also gone way up in price since I bought it.

That's the point, the perfect commuter car that drives it self, how much gas did you save that weekend? Anything performance you aren't filling 87 at $1.71

If not paying for $80 of gas is the only thing I can say positively about an experience, it's not worth it in my books.

Also that car was over $100k new when my friend bought it lol...so yah saving $ on gas wooooooo

Asking =/= selling

Checked out a few EVs while visiting parents in HK.

Maxus MIFA 9:
Sized like a Toyota Alphard and and surprisingly well-equipped for almost half the price. Top trim comes with massaging 2nd-row seats that are heated/ventilated with power-recline function. Interestingly the seats move sideways in addition to moving forward and backwards. Material choice feels one step down from Toyota (Nissan-grade?). Best enjoyed from the second row - walked away impressed.

Volvo EM90:
Comfiest Volvo I've been in. Materials, comfort, and ergonomics are amazing. Everything is padded and feels nice to touch. Couldn't do much with the vehicle because I somehow snuck myself in during a photo shoot with models. At a standstill it feels just as comfortable as the outgoing Lexus LM, but with an expected price close to the current-gen Toyota Alphard (or slightly more than half of a new LM)

Volvo EX30:
This is a very small car and roughly the size of a previous-gen Hyundai Kona. Materials are soft but feel rubbery, though better than Tesla IMO. Center dash feels a tiny bit small for a one-screen solution. Overall it feels like a stretch for Volvo to call this a SUV - it's more of a slightly taller hatch given its overall size. Good for city driving and maybe a family with very young kids.

ORA Funky Cat:
Pretty basic hatchback with Mini Cooper aspirations. Priced on the cheaper end of the market and the interior quality shows - smells and feels like cheaper plastic. Surprisingly roomy given its dimensions - I have no problems fitting behind my seating position.

I made money on the car With the V8 I would have lost money.

Looks like Ferrari bought a Model S plaid for testing.

But it's made in China... says most revsceners, BYD already produces more ev's than tesla, I swear westerners are so afraid of Chinese cars taking over the market, if BYD is really here, then tesla will have real competition, their low end ev models can be had for competitive prices compared to a ICE compact cars like civic and corolla, now that's what more shoppers are willing to spend. Welp one can only dream
