I don't trust it at all so I'm the opposite. When it fucks up I'd rather be going city speeds than freeway speeds.

LOL I just got an ad for a Nissan Ariya promo

I missed this when it happened.. but it's... not a good look for VinFast.

The front strut to knuckle connections do not last very long 15 to 25k depending on how you drive….in a jaguar Land Rover vehicle they are designed to last 150,000 with a safety factor of 2…so 300,000 miles for the average user…

The bushes that connect the LCA to the body are made by a supplier in china that never ever produced bushes before…they last about 10% of the life of the vehicle…

The knuckle snaps off in an extreme event, like hitting a pothole at 55mph under full lock breaking scenario…

Chairman wanted the cheapest suspensions that was designed in record time…we designed and simulated the suspensions over a few months without any real world testing and kicked off manufacturing…

Jaguar Land Rover or Mercedes take 5 years to design, simulate, test, fix any issues and then retest for validation before production…they also use 20-30 engineers just for a suspension in that time, that team did it with 4 people…

Vinfast skipped the last 3 steps to save money and do it in time…you get what you paid for…

There are very very serious life or death problems with the steering hardware and software of Vinfast vehicles…

I won’t go any further than that as I know what I know..but it’s fatal problems with it…and the very senior management knew about them…Communists do not care about the well-being of people, sacrifice is in its doctrine

The China fobs have no spatial awareness, they'll hit you but they'll be slow
The brown fobs think they can't die and they go 50 over everywhere and it's always your fault and not their's

Didn't know vinfast was made by buddy guys, no wonder they can slap something together so quickly

They are viet, not indian

Mikoyan 12-18-2024 09:59 PM

I remember reading that original Jalopnik article with the crazy press tour.

JDMDreams 12-18-2024 10:57 PM

Last time I checked tata was buddy guy

"He told the BBC that in test-driving prototypes, designed by Tata Technologies for Vietnamese car maker Vinfast, he identified improperly designed components in the car's chassis, including its suspension system."

Designed by Tata technologies not built, and it seems like they were designing it in the UK so not actually buddy guys. It would help if you'd actually have read the article.

Granted, I'm not a perfect driver by any mean, but if it does exactly how I drive and I have been accident-free for 23yrs, I figured it should be at least better than RMD C-lais. And if I had the option, I'd much prefer to have tons of me driving than C-lais.

I’m scheduled to test drive the R2 and Cybertruck in early Feb in Brooklyn, pumped to see how it goes

I think it's all of the above. Didn't they have Pininfarina work on the styling?

bcrdukes 12-19-2024 05:08 AM

Ironically, Pinninfarina is owned by the Mahindra Group.

AstulzerRZD 12-20-2024 03:46 PM

Latest version of FSD looks really impressive even in light NYC traffic.

Can't see any manufacturers really catching up...

but at the same time see reports of v13.2 running red lights/driving down wrong way/etc; improving consistency and corner cases will be Tesla's challenge to match Waymo

I was talking to a dealership out here about the Ariya as a potential value buy, and they were willing to chip in an additional $5k off.

Still not low enough though. They priced these things way to high to begin with and it doesn't really compete on the usual metrics. I notice Astulzer never even mentions this thing haha.

AstulzerRZD 12-21-2024 12:01 AM

Like you said, Ariya’s not just too little too late, is also too weird too expensive

I respect that it’s comfortable w/ zero gravity seats and such.
Should be good for longer drives right?

But nah, Ariya engineers went full retard on 3 glove boxes and a telescoping center console while ignoring the software/charging.

The weird priority is why it costs so much; it leases worse in Canada than much better cars like BMW iX 50 loaner, Mach E GT with Brembo/Magneride and F150 lightning

JDMDreams 12-21-2024 09:02 AM

How much are they after discount? Wouldn't it be a better buy than bz4x? At least it looks better. Too bad it's not a convertible or China hobz will buy:joy::troll:

AstulzerRZD 12-21-2024 09:10 AM

Bz4x belongs in dumpster

Ariya is unremarkable the way a GLB/Id4 is

S tier:
Macan/Q6.
Literally the best at everything at the moment.

A tier:
Model Y - default choice but not that good.
Ioniq/EV6/GV70/80 - the nerd's choice, best spec.
BMW iX / Rivian R1S - where the market's headed.

B tier:
Mustang Mach E
Niche enthusiast choice, fun, awesome app handles all chargers, supports plug and charge, batteries and bluecruise work good.

Chevy Equinox/Blazer/Cadillac Lyriq.
Amazing value and all round package but kinda meh the deeper you dig into it.

Nissan Ariya

D tier:
Q4 etron ~ ID4 ~ EQB.
They work but have bad range, heating, charging, and broken apps.

F tier:
BZ4x/RZ/Solterra - BlackBerry Storm.
Burn it with fire. Terrible range, terrible charging (30kw DCFC).

Vinfast.
NSFEveryone - suspension collapses and apparently road debris will set the battery on fire

Looked into this some more, I think Ariya's actually better than Mach E.

- charge rate 10-90% is faster than Model Y.
- filament heated windshield & heat pump means winter should be good
- app actually works unlike VW
- has supercharger access & charge port is in the right spot

Cons? No one pedal driving option and trash audio system

When it weight 5800lbs and had a 18 month development timeline, you know they spent like 5 minutes on the suspension/safety assist/battery attachment/etc.

The Giulia had a 24ish month timeline from established OEM and that was already considered breakneck speed

AstulzerRZD 01-03-2025 04:36 PM

I really need to drive one:

dark0821 01-04-2025 03:36 PM

Its good, it's really good =)

Sorry we don't allow test drives~~

My Neighbor has one. Everytime I see him drive that thing he has a shit eating grin on his face while his wife has a total cunty looking on hers.

Bet she hates dem BTS fucks now.

dark0821 01-04-2025 04:04 PM

Oh between shameless plug

the regular 2025 Ioniq 5 ULT are coming mid/late January, that the mild update with
- slightly larger battery
- rear wiper
- wireless carplay/android auto
- physical tactile HVAC controls

etc etc

radeonboy 01-04-2025 05:17 PM

^will it have a NACS port as well?

AstulzerRZD 01-04-2025 06:43 PM

2025 fixes an even bigger issue with road tripping: adds a manual button for battery preparation for fast charge.

In the past, battery preparation to get full charge rate in winter meant you had to use the onboard nav AND also not be using android auto/carplay at the same time.

2025 does have NACS and is a bit faster at supercharger (135kw max or 27 min 20-80%) but it will still be faster at other stations (240kw, 15 minute 20-80)
