they also added a restriction for the types of trips allowed; through traffic through the city center isn't allowed anymore.

How do they prove it's through traffic?

Cameras.

Not sure about France, but GB logs all the major routes (for terrorism) plus they get alerts if the same plate is seen in two places etc. or if a car is stolen etc. Also useful for charging congestion tax (no idea if it's the same network, but same tech).

Nissan Tesla merge rumors.

I doubt it, what can Tesla benefit with Nissan. I think the fox con is more realistic

tegra7 02-22-2025 12:50 PM

They want the factories.

After being unveiled in 2023, the Vanwall Vandervell is finally ready to hit the road. From January 2025, this electric hot hatch will be available to order at a 'base' price of €128,000 (approx. £107,000) excluding VAT.

If the brand name reminds you of anything, you're not wrong, as it shares its name with a historic Formula 1 racing team. But beware, the references to a bygone era end there: underneath the new compact car's retro guise lies an ultra-modern technical base, the same as that of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Yes, that's right, the Korean 'super hot hatch' that has driven enthusiasts around the world crazy.

The person behind it.

He was an advisor to Caterham F1 and had a part in the unsuccessful Forza Rossa Racing project.

The peobkem was never performance, the problem was getting over spending 80k on a hundai

JDMDreams 02-22-2025 08:07 PM

People who have $80000 to spend on a car doesn't want a Hyundai

red kryptonite 02-22-2025 09:11 PM

^ not necessarily true
probably few months back i was at KIA and saw a GLS on the lot, i asked the sales guy and he said someone traded it in for a EV9.

Badhobz 02-23-2025 05:19 AM

People with money wouldn’t touch Mercedes nowadays. Look at that EQE EQS line. They couldn’t give those away.

Their only viable products are the maybach line of sedans / suv and the G wagon. The rest is very very lame. Especially with the 4 cylinder AMG products.

68style 02-23-2025 07:00 AM

The new AMG S class is pretty impressive... 791hp and over 1,000lb/ft of tq, what monster!

Well there we have it, one buyer.

JDMDreams 02-23-2025 12:59 PM

Anyways I saw this excellent big ole van. Im a huge fan of these but a few things I've noticed.

1) its INSANELY large and tall. It genuinely has a higher floor than my wife RX. you need to step up into it and I'm 6'2. Not good for midgets.

2) the materials all look very nice, but not 100k nice. This "first edition" is going to be 100k after all said and done and its not there. Its more of a 50-60k car. When you touch it, its all hard plastics and low grade trash. If you don't touch it, its nice enough to look at.

I stopped by the VW dealership to finally see one in person. They wanted $89k and like you say, it's not nearly nice enough to justify that. It's really too bad. If they could've sold this thing at a reasonable price I think you'd have a ton of these on the streets. It's a minivan without the minivan look.

They could've even sold this thing as an ICE or hybrid vehicle.

radeonboy 02-23-2025 07:46 PM

I think VW will release lower level trims of the Buzz after this first model year.

JDMDreams 02-23-2025 10:21 PM

^^ that's what they said about model 3 cyber trucks, but they still haven't. I doubt VW can make it any cheaper, dem German Union women ain't cheap. They will just end up losing more money per car.

Is the eq e or s that bad? I've been noticing more ix. At least it's not as ugly.

Badhobz 02-24-2025 06:27 AM

If they made this dumb ass ID Buzz in gasoline engine they would have had a VW resurgence on their hands and demand would have skyrocketed. I would have bought one and most likely every other boomer in north america.

They could have charged the same amount of money but now it would been a useful road trip vehicle, i.e. what the original VW Bus was made for.

68style 02-24-2025 06:46 AM

This is true, though I don't think the interior or packaging of it could be achieved in its current state with an ICE drivetrain and all the gas tank/plumbing/transmission space required.

RabidRat 02-24-2025 06:51 AM

Also then the floor wouldn't be so weirdly high because they wouldn't need to package the battery down there.

Or keep the floor that high, but gain a lot more ground clearance. Sell an offroad version to make money off the overlanders.

Yeah it's too late for sure. They would've had to start from the beginning with ICE in mind :(.

EvoFire 02-24-2025 08:08 AM

borrow a flat 4 from Porsche, plumb it so it's as flat as can be.

Badhobz 02-24-2025 08:20 AM

the car is huge, the engine bay is huge. its all empty space.

They could have easily slipped in the VW workhorse ea888 and just turned up the boost a bit to compensate but nooooo... they purposely have to make it a lame EV.

teggy604 02-24-2025 01:06 PM

New IDBuzz is useless. Save your money and buy a nice condition 2000 VW Eurovan camper. With $100K to spend there are much better options.
