Dude, my EQE350 is shit. Its like bottom tier with artico leather that some how got to 99999.99 so I can avoid the luxury tax. Its 0-60 is like 6 seconds, the intelligent recuperation does weird shit when the car infront of you turns off the road. | That’s a very typical rich guy thing to say.
Ohhh ho hum, such peasantry automobile…. Artico leather is so plebeian. only 99,999.99! Yawn…. Plz notify my accountant and chauffeur when it breaks the $300,000 mark. Ta ta peons !!! Excuse me while I run you over in my Range Rover on my way to the apothecary
Tis well …. Tis well !
(You’re still a hero even if you’re a rich son of a bitch)

Sure, a lot of crashed new cars end up in the junkyards, but you can find many cars in nice shape that are scrapped because new vehicles... are designed to be unfixable. Or at least not worth the cost.
There was just a Land Rover, a silver one, at the Kelowna Pick And Pull that was in mint shape, a 2014 model I think... If I had the money I would've swapped a 5.0 into it.

If they chose the wrong type of leather that doesn't wear well then it's a problem. You pay a certain price and you expect a certain level of quality.
You pay the price and expect a steak, but they gave you a frozen burger pattie instead. It's still beef they say.
The same thing applies up and down the price ranges and across most spectrums.

we could've bought another mild hybrid xc90 with full nappa leather for 70k but without the 0% it would've been the same monthly payment as the merc...but 10+ years of volvo is too much for the wife lol
To be honest, artico is not bad for durability. Just crazy that a vehicle at 120k msrp has plastic leather.

Can't believe the spin that artico/sensatec/vegan leather are more environmentally friendly than cow leather that the automakers push out. An MB GLS or BMW X7 you have to pay more for real leather even though the MSRP is $100K+. Hate the trend of automakers copying Porsche and nickel & diming you for every option.

Nothing beats the feel and smell of relatively uncoated leather.
Most car leathers are terrible—over-coated for durability and stain resistence, like BMW Dakota and Vernasca.
Even the Nappa in my E63 felt like MB-Tex at first.
Unless it’s MB Designo Nappa, Lexus Semi-Aniline, or Porsche Club Leather, it's just not worth the hassle.
MB-Tex is probably the best synthetic—lasts decades with decent feel, though it gets sweaty.
Sensatec and Tesla Vegan Leather? Absolutely terrible

You peasants sit on cow leather?
My car is White Rhino leather and my wheels are made with Ivory. The more suffering, the softer the leather.

No matter how nice it became, it’s all just vinyl at the end of the day.
The best seats I’ve experienced was the Lexus LS semi aniline seat and the full aniline seat in the range rover autobiography.

My steering wheel? Genuine T-Rex foreskin, stretched for optimal grip.
And the seats? Bare buttcheeks only — hobz buffs the leather his own tears before every drive.

I would rather have premium cloth over leather. I love the cloth seats in the 1958 edition Land Cruiser. Even my Raptor has a mix of leather and cloth and its very comfy.

Fucking hate leather in the summer, I'll take cloth any day, unfortunately on most higher trim levels you really don't get that option.

This just seems gross and excessive. Like a car version of Trump. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...lade-iq-drive/ Quote:
The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ Is One Massive EV
At some 9000 pounds and with 460 miles of range, the all-electric Escalade IQ is full of superlatives.
"Massive" is a word that gets misused quite often, but it's entirely apropos in the world of the Cadillac Escalade. Step up to the electric Cadillac Escalade IQ, however, and it's more like supermassive black hole, especially if you're cloaked in the shade informally known as Town Car black. It dwarfs other electric SUVs with a wheelbase that's over 15 inches longer than that of a regular Escalade, plus about an extra foot of overall length. The IQ is wider, too, but it's also slightly lower than a regular Escalade, and it looks even lower than the numbers suggest because its rear end falls away in a graceful arc, not the blunt chopped-off profile of the gas version.
It also weighs approximately 9000 pounds, owing to its all-electric powertrain and a massive (there's that word again) lithium-ion battery with 205.0 kWh of usable energy.

I both agree and disagree; depends on ur hands on EV exp
I agree because using a GIANT battery is a 2025 style fix; once better chemistry and costs come down, they can do this with lighter car and smaller battery
I disagree because GM's actually figured out what consumers would eventually find:
1) Large SUVs/trucks are the real cost/emissions/efficiency win. Quote:
my lightning is 7c/km vs 54c/km and 27L/100km on our equivalent 5.0.
a normal EV at 3c/km compares to 30c/km if you drive an X3 at 20L/100km
| 2) Efficient EVs like Lucid lose hella range in real world wind/cold/hills. The fix is to just put a giant battery in it.
3) Recharge speed and time is king, especially in real world weather. Giant battery enables this. Quote:
This does 260kW AVERAGE from 10-80%. Compare to Model X which does 130kw recharge speed. Since you half these speeds when cold/too hot, the Escalade always charges at an acceptable speed.
| 4) Luxury buyers and fleet cars are aren't as range sensitive
5) GM chassis tech makes a huge diff: their mag ride and steering tune makes the gas Escalade drive smaller than an X5 40i around town (I rented them back to back from Sixt)

BYD Blade LFP battery was pretty ass but they're really working their fast charging weakness. 1000kW pretty OP, probably means it averages 300kw, exceeding the current fast charging winner (Porsche).
Now we will have to see if they can make it charge in the cold.
