If anyone want a decent deal on Ioniq 5 Ultimate.

This is the old gen 2024, but manufacture is now doing $7,000 off and 0% financing upto 5 years I believe and it is still only 0.99% after that I think.

Once again this is the old gen without the wiper...

But heck... decent deal compared to whats out there for the market~!

With the way the Solterra is being sold right now (with huge discounts), it is actually tempting to get one as a city runabout / DD. I test drove a b4Zx before, and having EV traits aside, it had that same Corolla / Camry vibe. I basically felt right at home after a very short amount of time.

I understand the ins and outs of these things and a solterra would actually give me anxiety

Bus: Already seeing five-figure discounts in the US.
Range isn't a big deal—you’re likely at a stage to slow down and enjoy scenic routes. VW EVs consistently exceed EPA estimates in city/suburban driving.

Solterra: Skip it. Spend $3-5k more on a '24 Ioniq RWD/AWD/whatever —you'll recover the difference through resale since it'll still be relevant in 2030, unlike the Solterra (basically a 2015 EV)
Solterra’s recharge time is painful (90-120+ mins vs. 18 mins for Ioniq); Tesla needs a 80% increase in average charge rate to match the Ioniq.
Solterra range is painful - 160-250km at winter 110kmh compared to 350-400km at 145kmh in EV6.

500e If you're fine with Solterra's ~200-250 km range with heat on, lease a 500e instead for around $3k over two years.

If you’re being cheap, Mach E is not just a real EV and car, it's also fun.

- It's fun: Rides and steers better than a Golf R thanks to Magneride and PS4S.
- App Preheat – Works properly. Warms up in the morning or while running errands. Tesla-level UX and smoothness.
- Autopark – Works well in the city. Not perfect, but usable.
- Hands-Free Driving (BlueCruise) – Works better than Autopilot on highways. More brainless, less nagging.
- Supercharger Access – Plug & charge works. No hassle if you use up the range.
- Route Planning with CarPlay – Charging stops integrate properly. Can be used like a normal car for long drives.

ah ok, i thought the range was like 350 kms, but i guess you loose that with heat on?

The Toyota BZ4X’s range estimates are wildly optimistic.
- Rated: 350 km
- Heat or highway: 200-240 km
- Keeping the heat on while parked: 200km
That's a 100km round trip.

By comparison, Ioniq 5 full heat or AC only reduces range from 460 km to ~420 km.
I got 400km ripping it at like 145kmh with AC on.

Even worse, once Solterra/BZ4x AWD is low, fast charge takes 2-4x longer than other EV.
It's cuz there's no heat pump, no battery warming in the morning, no battery pre-warm/cool for fast charging.
It's so bad they didn't sell in Ontario/Quebec until 2025.

i can see why it's hard to sell, especially ontario where people could be commuting to work to toronto from like hamilton or something

I haven't looked at one closely, but they seem really cramped based on the design. They wanted that sleek sports car look in a SUV form factor and you lose headroom, cargo space, shoulder space, etc.

When I was chatting with Dark and I was checking out the i5N in the showroom, the sloping rear hatch eats into the trunk space significantly, and the trunk floor is high. Headroom in the rear seats was lower than expected as well.

the low range isn't inherently a problem, it's the abominable recharge
* best case: 35 minute 10-80%
* 10C: 1 hour
* 5C: 2 hour
* -20C: stops charging

not only is it slow af but if you fast charge more than 160% in 24h, it locks you out of fast charging.
* Great weather, you drove 400km: 4 hours 10-80%

If an Ioniq only had 200km range, is not an issue.
* Great weather, you drove 1000km in a day: 18 minutes
* -5C, best case scenario: 18 minutes
* -5C, worst case scenario (no batt heating cuz the nav is hard to use): 35 minutes

ya it's extra tough cuz the battery takes up veritcal space.
mach-e is more cx-30/5 interior size than it is rav4

imo still best cheap/fun/usable EV

tbh I think the bus is fine; it's not a road trip star but it's in the range of the Teslas

- EV9: 180kw, 135 miles in 15 min
- Lucid Gravity: 170kw, 130 miles
⬇️
- Model Y: 99kw, 86 miles
- ID Buzz: 108kw, 67 miles

the more seats in the vehicle the fewer miles you’ll get before someone needs to stop for a pee.

With adults it's not a problem, with kids it becomes a huge drag as where you can charge may not neccessarily be some where that's convenient with kids. If it's somewhere good for kids chances are all the chargers would be taken.

ah yes the kids is key

with the superchargers it's fine, they're usually 16 stalls +

bus charges fine on Superchargers, EV9/Lucid do not.

I'm watching to see where Lucid is in a few years. I'm very interested in the Gravity, and if they are doing ok I'm gonna go for a mid spec one.

Wow. Gravity looks insane

- Gravity is the first 800V car to charge fast on 400V (225kw instead of 50 on air)
- Max is 400kw on 1000V
- Even if it’s cold, it will do 225kw and max out a V3 supercharger.
- 225kw average in the cold is 2.25X faster than all teslas
