That being said those longshoremen who drive the vehicles off the ships arent exactly known to be gentle with vehicles. They operate on a quit system so as soon as they are finished off loading X amount of vehicles they go home. This usually means turn key, gas like a maniac, brake hard, and then turn off the car all before it was properly warmed up.

Interesting to see a lot of Civic Type R's new from dealers are going for around 60k CAD on ebay

I am kind of torn on dealers selling over MSRP. If they are forced to sell at MSRP many will be flipped by the first buyer anyway.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to test drive it.. only went around the block.

It feels really great, can practically start the car in 3rd lol..

And the black Type R is not a customer's.. already stated it's Honda Canada's Vehicle - > will be at that warehouse in Richmond.
Found out that it will also be a press car; so people like Vancouver Sun or Province or whatever will get to rip in it.

They're not letting employees buy it because they don't want to give discounts for limited edition cars. We're probably getting like 3-4 this year.

I'm not sure what you mean by if the numbers are real life. But Car and Driver and most other magazines have a specific way of testing cars to ensure numbers are comparable to one another. From time to time there are ringers or outliers though.

With that said, someone pulled Car and Driver's test numbers for other cars in this class:

Spotted a CW CTR on the top deck of a car hauler rolling down HWY 2 this afternoon.

Looked pretty good to me

I then called my Honda guy about the car, I guess I'm no longer at the top of the list, I'm simply on the list, and his GM isn't sure what he wants to do with the car.

Fags.

The car that dealer is black, so meh, I would really only want a CW.

Plus I still struggle with why anyone would buy the CTR over a Gilf R... maybe driving one will change my mind.

Curb Weight Figures for the above cars:
WRX STI: 3402lb
Golf R 6MT: 3329lb
Focus RS: 3459lb
Civic Type R: 3111lb

Notice how the Civic is at least 200lb lighter than the next closest competitor. And it's a good 350lb lighter than the Focus RS.

Gotta keep in mind the following with any magazine test numbers, including Car and Driver:

• They do a 3ft rollout for 0-60mph (i.e. timer does not start until the car moves 3 feet away)
  
• They eliminate the effects of weather on performance by using proprietary empirical correction factors to adjust all results to dry air at 14.7 psi and 60 degrees Fahrenheit
  
• To cancel the effects of the wind, all acceleration tests are run in both directions; the best runs in each direction are then averaged
  
• For manual cars, they try different runs with different launch rpm. For instance, for something like the S2000 or WRX STI, they launch these with a 6000rpm clutch dump. No power shifting or speed shifting involved.
  
• For manual cars, they experiment with shifting at redline and short shifting.
  
• For automatic cars, they use brake torquing or launch control. This is especially helpful for turbocharged cars as they can build up the turbo boost before launch, eliminating any turbo lag

I think people would choose the Golf R because:

• German Engineering
• More understated, classy styling
• AWD for 0-60mph and poor weather
• Arguably nicer interior

While the CTR is way overdone, the Golf R is way too subtle for the performance it has. The inner child of me could never do it. Personally, if I'm buying a fast car, it should look fast.

But I can see why people would want the R if they prefer a sleeper with more class. Plus, it also comes with DSG.
