http://images.cdn.autocar.co.uk/site...?itok=n8S1Th2n

what do you guys think?

Energy 12-07-2015 06:43 PM

Would buy it.

flagella 12-07-2015 06:51 PM

I'm excited and definitely welcome a replacement. Is that just some unconfirmed rendering though...? And is the S2000 replacement confirmed?

Gerbs 12-07-2015 06:52 PM

Is it confirmed?

A Truly Wild Rumor Says the Honda S2000 Will Return as a Miata Competitor

According to this article, this is all speculation.

That being said, currently the economic climate is generally pretty good that many manufacturers are enjoying success with people buying sports cars once again, so from a business standpoint it makes sense. It doesn't take someone with an MBA to see the success of the FRS/BRZ and excitement surrounding the new Miata, and the new low price of the 370Z. Right now, Honda currently doesn't have any 2/+2, lightweight, sporty RWD cars so it would make sense to release something just under the $30,000 price point. Plus, a new S2000 would be in line with other moves (new NSX, Civic Type-R, JDM S660) for Honda to go back to making fun cars again.

evlee 12-07-2015 07:35 PM

ohhhhh i am very interested......... cant wait to see the real deal. who knows maybe its good enough to trade in my garage queen.

jshen 12-07-2015 08:15 PM

what about the type r version? rumour it has the civic type r's motor. hard debate between this and the new rotary.

Roadster vs GT car... apples and oranges

Groot 12-07-2015 09:30 PM

if this is true, I hope they bring back the integra type r lol

twitchyzero 12-07-2015 09:33 PM

old enough not to get excited over rumors and renderings
remember all the Supra renderings in the mid 2000's

would sell my soul for that ^

still just speculation though. would buy one with no hesitation if the speculation (and the specs it brings) came true though

RRxtar 12-07-2015 10:05 PM

those are renderings that actually look absolutely terrific. the nsx front is a little big for the s2000 size, but if they re-drew it instead of just sticking it on as is, it would fit very very well. and just tone the air vents down a little

Nabatron 12-07-2015 10:40 PM

Don't get how this will rival the Miata! Different price points plus different horse power! If it gets the civic type r engine 300+ hp compared to Miatas 150hp no question the s2000 would be a better over all car in probably every way except maybe price

SupraTTturbo2jz 12-07-2015 10:40 PM

damnit, that would be my next affordable dream car

smoothie. 12-07-2015 10:45 PM

I can't wait for my ap2 to be faster than the ap3 :lawl:

If it's going to be miata rival, honda will probably put the smaller turbo engine from the ex sedan in it for 160-180hp.

If Honda somehow unreserves itself and puts the 300hp engine in it, I'm sold.

Akinari 12-07-2015 11:01 PM

Turbo? No thanks.

MG1 12-07-2015 11:31 PM

Fuck the Tesla, I'm in.

Selling the farm.

It'll probably make more sense for them to do both.

Make a sub-30k version with the turbo four for younger buyers cross-shopping the car with Miatas and FRSes, and another version with more performance-oriented goodies (suspension, lsd, stiffer sway bars, lighter body components, etc) and the 300hp CTR engine for around 40-45k that can compete with the Boxster, Z4, 370Z, etc...

asian_XL 12-08-2015 06:47 AM

looks like Attack K1

flagella 12-08-2015 08:28 AM

I'm trying very hard to see the similarities...... Nope.

ZN6 12-08-2015 09:22 AM

120HP/L N/A? Sadly, that won't happen again unless emission standards went out the window.

:okay:

Well, at least we got the FR-S that looks quite similar to those renderings. It's no supra but it goes a long way to reinvigorating Toyota's brand(s) even if it's DNA is mostly from Subaru. Toyota is doing up their line of fun cars again at the very least.

I doubt Honda will nerf one of their most iconic sports cars to a level around that of a civic. Here's hoping that it will be at about the same power as the euro CTR.

BoostedBB6 12-08-2015 10:23 AM

According to Toyota North America, the FRS was a flop. There sales targets were only reach in the release year, since then its been dropping like a rock.

Toyota has the S-FR concept which is.....interesting but simply a concept for now.

The S2000 is a far better sports car than the FRS is but its almost unfair to compare them, ones a light weight 2 seat sports car the other is a built to budget 4 seat "sports" car.
