The two white ones are GT3, not RS. If there is a GT3 RS for 240K, I would buy it in a heart beat.

370K is normal going rate for the RS. Look at the states market they are in the 290K usd range.

While it is the going rate, I think its pretty dirty that the dealerships were given allocations to sell at massive markups and people who tried to get allocations couldn't.
Its one thing when 964s, 997 gt3s, etc have a natural appreciation due to rising demand and dwindling supply, but Porsche should have rules in place to prevent dealers from creating an artificial drop in supply by purchasing themselves and spiking prices. You know how many of these cars are just sitting on showroom floors compared to how many people missed out on allocations?
Porsche doesn't benefit from it, and if anything it hurts their brand image in the long run. Just the dealers will benefit.

Dealerships are typically just fucking scums who are taking a slice of margin at the expense of consumers. Basically any middle men are and they should be eliminated. Spare me the how they provide benefits blah blah crap. Same with real estate agents. They are not needed in this day and age where all the information can be accessed online. Stop limiting info to consumers and allow more transparent information flow and everyone will benefit (Tesla model works fine). Hope to see these professions disappear just like how stock brokers have, for the most part.

Sure, let's talk about allocations and mark up on GT cars.

First of all, when a dealer is allocated x number of GT cars, they can only actually secure those allocations if a named buyer exists, that is to say, the dealer is unable to order a GT car as dealer inventory. Another interesting point about allocations is that PCNA will often force the dealer to order additional "less desirable" units to secure more GT allocations - something like 5 Cayennes for another GT4 allocation.

How does one secure an allocation then? The customer contacts local Porsche dealer long before a car is officially released and provides a deposit of 5-10K, this deposit secures a spot on the wait list, if you are the first person to put down a deposit you will typically receive the first available allocation. HOWEVER, if you have never bought a Porsche before, or have no relationship with the local dealer, expect your name to slip down the list - you are essentially a soulless anon and while you will remain 1st in line among the other anons, customers who have an existing relationship with the dealer will get preferential treatment and will jump to the front of the line.

So at this point, the dealer can now start long cocking people but most rarely do, we will call this "allocation tax" - where the dealer basically tells you they can get you an allocation but it will cost MSRP +10K... the basis of which is usually "market adjustment" or that they have another customer who is willing to sell their allocation etc... it's all bullshit anyway. The dealer is NOT supposed to sell the cars for >MSRP.

Now here is where it actually gets juicy, people walking away from allocations. The dealer loves this, they can now give the allocation to another customer or they can receive the car and convert it to dealer inventory where they can list it for market price and not have to fear any negative feedback from PCNA.

Another common occurrence is that someone takes delivery of a GT car, drives it for 3 months, and then the dealer offers to buy it back for 10K over what the customers paid etc. Once again they can now list the car for market price, it's not uncommon for dealers to do this and to provide the seller with some sort of horse trade where they are promised a spot for another desirable model etc.

So while it seems awful the dealer is asking a fortune for that 991 RS, they might have bought it back from a customer for 50K over MSRP to start with.

Pretty retarded.

A lot of them would just be sitting in garages anyways. When I was younger I used to think people actually drove these high end cars, now I know most of them (Porsches more than others) are purchased just to be able to say you own it.

My impression is, the majority of owners that care enough to join the local Porsche Club chapter will drive their cars, often enthusiastically. And a good bunch of them will take it to the track as well.

But I do wonder what percentage of owners care enough to join the local PCA chapter... Probably not very high at all.

Soooo the car is slated to arrive on Thursday

I was trying to get the dealer to swap my car for the used black GT4 they had in the showroom - they declined as the car had a deal in the works and has since sold.

I wouldn't believe it, but I saw it with my own eyes, they sold a GT4 w/ 2800KM's and almost no options for 149K... 42K over sticker.

I guess the Canadian used market hasn't suffered from the American drop in prices... yet.

2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 Porsche Approved CPO! for $164,900 in Langley | autoTRADER.ca

Lol 165K for a GT4 with 3100KM.

Whoever pays that will probably set the bar for highest % paid over MSRP (even with the LWB's and PCCB's)

I can't wait to flip mine for a quick buck

When this Porsche bubble pops it's going to be ugly.

I don't know if that will ever happen. As long as housing is unobtainable, cars will continue to follow.

So far the housing market shows no signs of cooling off...

The 911 R is a fantasy Porsche, a naturally-aspirated and manual only piece of rolling art in an age of PDK transmissions and ultimate lap times. It also came with a not-too-shabby starting price of $185,000, but collectors are going to collect. Now the ultimate 911 has an asking price of $1.3 million on the used market.

Not long ago we found a 911 R on eBay from a questionable seller with an asking price of $1.25 million. We thought this was a bit crazy, but apparently, the current market conditions are not far off.

Motoring Research recently spoke with Magnitude Finance supercar finance experts in the UK, and they claim that 911 R prices are commanding more than £800,000 on the secondhand market.

“We believe this is a record level of appreciation for a new car based on a percentage of its original value...We spoke to several Porsche specialist dealers and they confirmed the cars are commanding close to £1 million ($1.3 million USD) but they can’t list them at this amount.” - said Magnitude head Tim Marlow
The 911 R is selling for over seven times its original sticker price—a level of appreciation is greater than the ultra-limited edition LaFerrari. With only 991 examples of the R available, and the fact that the collectable Porsche market is absolutely bonkers, it’s really no surprise to see these cars skyrocket so fast.

Personally, if I had way too much money to spend on a Porsche, I’d opt for a few classics reimagined by Singer in a variety of their wonderful colors, because the R is only available in boring white, with or without tacky stripes.

There, I said it. And I don’t care of the stripes are “historic” they are tacky.
You Can Buy Three Singer Porsches For The Price Of This Used 911 R

holy crap. and people thought the gt3rs prices were nuts...

Pretty happy with the GT4, it's probably softer and more compliant than I expected.

Still, I think 997 GT3 > GT4. (Mind you taking the warranty and entry price into consideration the GT4 is certainly the better "value")
