| STOLEN: 1998 Black Integra GSR (USDM), Burnaby
One of my old high school friends just got his DC2 stolen while it was parked outside his house by Esmond Ave and Hastings in North Burnaby. If someone sees it please call 911, it has already been reported to the police.
It's a manual 98 Integra GSR, no alarm system installed on the car unfortunately
Some things that are on the car (unsure if the theif took it off the car or not..)
-Leather hood bra
-Green neochrome ish chameoleon headlight tint on the DRLs (inner headlights)
-Dents on passenger side fender
-Valvetronic exhaust (fairly loud)
-Lowered
-Bronze painted stockies |

Ugh. I'll keep my eyes out. Love these integras, but if I ever owned one I'd need to hire a full time military sniper to keep an eye on it.

Will keep an eye out in surrey/langley.
Off topic: but are the 00-01 integras with the chipped keys harder to steal?

I don't think they came with chipped keys.
I don't recall my 01 ITR having a chipped key.

If he had a good alarm he would probably still have the car, again.. most likely anyways. GL getting it back.

Not useful unless you're within earshot with a baseball hat handy. And if the thief is experienced he/she (it's 2015!) can usually get the alarm off and get moving within 5 minutes anyway...

I'd rather they steal the fucking car than grab a baseball bat and get in a street fight over it...

The sirens are just a small part of a good car alarm. I for example have done a lot of stuff. Relocated hood cable, hood lock. door locks all disabled inside and out included removing of rods until car is turned on or remote engaged. Tilt, prox, shock sensors a bunch of other things i can't remember. It CERTAINLY does IMO help. cheers

not the best idea to be disclosing vulnerabilities for certain models and personal anti-theft measures on a public forum.

I suggest you enroll in a creative writing class.
Again, no one pays attention to most car alarms. They are the security equivalent of the boy who cried wolf. Unless you have a pager and you are within "fucking somebody up" distance from your car, there is nothing that's going to make sure it doesn't happen.

I would compare an alarm going off to a neighbours dog that is barking.
Most people would just ignore it.
But if it's your own car alarm going off or dog barking, then you would care.

Immobilizers fail and nobody pays attention to alarms or even people trying to get into a car, the few times that I've had to break into my own or a friends vehicle to recover keys not a single person has said anything or called the police. Considering that for the last few years some cars have been getting stolen using flat deck tow trucks I'm going to be putting a GPS tracker with a small backup battery in my car. That'll also protect me from things like some of the shenanigans in the VIP auto thread.
