So the Genesis is now a sports model, a luxury model, and now a luxury brand? Will the existing Genesis luxury model fall under the new luxury brand name? The Genesis Genesis?

Not going to work... Equus and Genesis sedan are not selling well right now... Equus especially.

Who in the right mind would spend 30g on a Hyundai. Let alone 50g+.

I Don't care if it has the same options/power as an s class or 7 series, it's still a Hyundai..and spending 60 grand on one is idiotic.

Yes but Toyota/Nissan/Honda already had a great lineage of reliable well-built vehicles spanning decades, whereas people only stopped considering Hyundais to be garbage about a decade ago.

Lexus , Infiniti and Acura all had a decent reputation from Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Not to mention the brands were backed by brilliant Japanese engineering.

Hyundai hasn't proved itself as a mid-range automotive brand let alone a Luxury brand. Hyundai has only recently started to barely step it up a bit and kind of throw it self in the competition of other mid range brands by using ostentatious designs and subpar engineering.

Not to hate on anyone that drives a Hyundai but i just think Hyundai should stick to selling mid range vehicles and keep competing with Toyota, Honda, Mazda etc etc

It's quite nice for sure. The only major complaint I have about it (the V6 model) is that the transmission has no idea what it wants to do, wasn't a huge fan of it.

I see 2011 Equus(es?) for sub 30k. I mean, that's gotta be a decent deal.

Not hating on Hyudais from the last 10-15 years but in terms of coming out with a luxury lineup:

I have driven just about every model and trim line since the god damn rental companies seem to really love renting them out. Hated every single one of them.

A lot can be accomplished with good branding and marketing. When I was in the market for a car I did test drive a four door Genesis. I liked it. My thinking then was, had they separated these cars from Hyundai with a "higher end" brand it would have swayed me to seriously consider buying it. But then I was like, nah it's a Hyundia.

That's because Equus is only a Hyundai.

This is exactly why Japanese had to launch Lexus, Acura and Infiniti brands.
