I'm glad they're keeping the iM/Auris at least since I was planning on buying one for the missus in a few years. Hell we would've bought one last year instead of her 05 Matrix if they idiots would've thought to sell them here to begin with.

Isn't every Scion sold out of a Toyota dealership? I don't see how people don't make the connection.

In the US I believe they had dedicated Scion dealerships, but I could be wrong.

What Chinese bun / donuts?
Is this something only available at 7:01AM or something?

I've been cross-shopping the iM with the Mazda3 and Golf in the event of a buyback on my TDI (getting a non Type-R Civic hatch is a stretch), and I do like the iM considering it's a product I've worked on before. The fact that it's Japan-built makes me appreciate it a bit more.

I'm not surprised the brand is dead. Oh well, I can get a 2017 with a Toyota badge instead!

I was disappointed to learn Toyota killed off the Matrix, only to be rebadged/sold as a Scion iM.

My mom was looking to downsize from the Sienna van but decided to hold on to it, only to learn the Matrix was discontinued. Then Scion comes along and decides to sell them for (at the time) 3.99% financing, which doesn't really help their case. As I mentioned in a previous post, other marques had better deals going on and Mazda often has 0% financing.

Mods please rename this thread to "Scionara" :joy:

Side note, here's a little chronology of the Scion brand. Not hard to see why it failed when you lay it all out in front of you.

So Long Scion! A History of Toyota?s Youth-Centric Brand

The iM is the Corolla hatch that wasn't sold here before, not a Matrix, although they're pretty similar anyways.

I get why they made Scion, but the issue I find is kids don't care about cars nowadays compared to say 10-15 years ago when the brand was launched, at least that's the vibe I get in Vancouver

Scion should have allowed Toyota to market and focus on selling vanilla reliable family appliances, you know cars that actually make the company money, without creating the image of young/punkass sports cars. So Scion was supposed to get the kids in at a younger age and then 'grow' into Toyota/Lexus.

luckily for Toyota, all young people eventually turn into old people :ilied:
