We're gonna be down near Playa del Carmen soon so I was thinking of taking the ferry across to Cozumel for a day and renting a car to boot around the island. I was there on a cruise 12-13 years ago but from my understanding it has changed a bit since then. I want to check out the ruins at the north of the island but beyond that we haven't planned out much yet. Any suggestions on things to see or places to eat lunch would be greatly appreciated.

if it's for a day, just go bum around, taking a taxi is super easy or even bus it if you want. There's only one place downtown where you walk around so you're pretty much good to go.
It all looks the same, maybe the souvenirs differ but overall cozumel is more hip and hopping if you go clubbing.
