Car Odors & Floor Mat Shampoo / Cleaning?
 

I have a general question in regards to Car Odors / Shampooing for Floor Mats..

I recently spilled vinegar and Orange Thai Tea in my vehicle, my floor mats are stained and also have a thick pasty feeling which is unpleasant.

I stripped the floor mats + rubber ones as well, and vacuumed it, and left the windows open to air out in the garage..

I want to spray down my rubber mats, over the weekend and scrub with a sponge and soap..

However my cotton floor mats that are beneath the rubber ones are stained and have smells..
What would be the way to clean/shampoo these out?

I am looking for suggestions or possibly a shop/store which provides servicing to clean these..

Any information is greatly appreciated..

W.e you do, DO NOT purchase any groupons associated with "Premium Detailing". Horrible service along with customer service. Your better off renting a steam cleaner and cleaning it urself to remove stains/odors.

where to get portable steam cleaners for car seats?

I believe U-haul rents steam cleaners. Give them a call or search on their site. Let me know if ur gonna rent one and i'll pitch in too cause I need to redo my interior carpet and seats as the odor still lingers.

Slightly off-topic, where to get a good interior cleaning for reasonable price in GVR?

any superstore will rent carpet extractors. thats what you need. heats up any water/chemical you pour in and sucks it up.

The foam under my floor carpet is soaked with water, will carpet extractor work too?

anyone tried once of these? Think getting one of these will be useful around the house too.

yray, I use a similar machine for automotive carpets at home. Works well on lighter stains when used with an appropriate cleaner.

Wherever possible, you want to remove the carpet or item that is stained from the vehicle and clean well. If it has soaked through the carpet then there is insulation that can be contaminated to. I have even seen cases where the smell gets into the body seam sealer in trunk areas and is near impossible to remove without taking the sealer out.

Clean the area as best as you can and throw a ionizer in there for a couple hours and let it air out after. In most cases this will get rid of 99.9% of the odors/stains. I purchased the carpet cleaner for $150 used (was $700 new) and the Ozonator for around $150 as well. Great things to have for auto and around the house.

pre treatment scrub is going to get all the stuff loose and the machine pretty much sprays water and sucks it up.

the superstore ones are pretty much the same as those detailer machine. only difference is the detailing extractors might have 2 pumps to suck the water out and a heating element.

just pour hot water in with some cleaning solution and then go over it again with clean water. there are cleaning solutions enzyme that will eat away at the odor.

make sure to have your windows open to let everything dry. if it did soak through then take the carpet out and clean both sides like boosted said.
