DIY - Samsung screen repair - S4 Well..i had some time on my hands this weekend and had a $10 SCREEN repair kit (purchased off amazon) so as per this thread: http://www.revscene.net/forums/70779...ement-kit.html ..I decided to not bother selling it and keep this as a back up phone. Soooo... googled a few youtube videos to figure it all out. I ended up using a hair dryer instead of the recommended heatgun and it worked out just fine. hardest part was removing all the leftover glue from the previous screen. fun experiment! the digitizer is still shot from the original drop but I can live with the green line since its a backup phone only. http://i.imgur.com/tAZpOAS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/e1RGSc5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Lq8IiAa.jpg remove the housing and circuit board and then heat it up with the blow dryer.... till its uncomfortable to touch.. (i.e. hot cup of tea). start removing screen at edge , use a guitar pick and playing cards. http://i.imgur.com/jGOSSyf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/590tPL4.jpg clean the dried up old glue off the digitizer...I used nailpolish remover..worked good but lots of rubbing with your fingers. http://i.imgur.com/eDJ7TVL.jpg lay new screen on and boom.. re-assemble. http://i.imgur.com/08yPba9.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0749YY7.jpg I used this youtube video as a guide: |
