Honda Long Life Antifreeze Type 2

Anyone know where I can get this in person (Lower Mainland) or a reliable site to ship it here for a fair price? Manual recommends this type and it's time to refill...

Dealership?
HopeFung in Richmond? Sometimes they stock Honda fluids and they're a few bucks cheaper than the dealership.

Lordco sells it under the beck/arnley brand. A little cheaper than the dealership.

my Honda with k20a3 is also due and I already bought the type 2 sold by the gallon...from reading i'll need ~5 qts...it would be such a waste dumping 75% of fresh coolant so I'm thinking of just saving a bit of the old coolant so I don't need to get 2 jugs...yay or nah? I'm thinking it's fine but would like to know otherwise.

I was at Canadian Tire the other day to pick up some coolant and noticed they have one made for Asian cars.

Coolant Indicator

Do most cars have a indicator that will appear when the engine coolant is low? I realized mine is low and might have been driving it for at least 6 months on low coolant (big mistake I know...)

The light never came on, could it be defective?

If the temp. gauge never passed the halfway point, you are probably OK (assuming your temp. gauge is working)

The kind of car you drive would help us tell you car specific issues to look out for.

what? why do you think you are low on coolant?

You need to look at more evidence. Are you looking at the overflow reservoir? when that thing is empty, it may indicate low coolant level but it does not necessarily mean you are completely empty.

Has the car's temperature gauge ever gone past the middle?

honestly, if you have been driving for 6 months and your car is still fine, you are probably only a little below the recommended level

Acura MDX 2014

It's below the min line, I'm looking at the reservoir that's right above the windshield cleaner reservoir.

you are fine. but if you want peace of mind, you can just add more coolant to that reservoir until it gets between Full & min.

Not sure if Honda sells the premixed coolant like toyota? ask your dealer, it's still a 2014 and i bet they will do this for you

Your Acura is not a BMW. You'll be fine. Just top it up with the same stuff that's already in it.

It's only like $20 for a jug at the dealership. No need to mix with water either.

if you're going to save old coolant, why bother replacing the rest?

1. it's got a shelf-life once opened
2. i dont wanna just dump out nearly a full fresh jug
3. i would just add water and dilute but it's already pre-mixed 50/50

for most cars, when you drain your fluid, you also rinse as well.

honda urged me not to rinse, ( they gave me some reason on how their fluid worked) and because of that, i think you retain a little coolant left in the system.

honda manufactures a few types of fluid, and i will stick with them if i can. coolant and the MTL are the ones i have been getting from honda.
