The best way to avoid getting scammed is just don't buy tickets to Justin Bieber's concert, simple as that

Stop buying scalped tickets. Everyone knows the danger of scammers but people still willingly pay hundreds of dollars for tickets from strangers at malls instead of home residences...

Sometimes you have no choice but to buy scalped tickets if you want to see the show... especially when they're sold out in a matter of minutes. However, buying hardcopy tickets is stupid, the seller can always claim they were lost and have new ones issued and the old ones voided. Either get the seller to e-transfer the tickets to your account via ticketmaster or buy them from stubhub (or other trusted 3rd party services).

I know I know its VancityBuzz but at least it looks like one of the scammers was caught at least.

The Coquitlam RCMP says a man has been arrested for selling fake Justin Bieber concert tickets.

A mother and daughter duo had spent $600 on Justin Bieber tickets they purchased from an individual on Kijiji only to find out they were fake.

Police were notified and with the help of the mom and daughter, 38-year-old Giuseppe Farinella – who also goes by Joey or Troy – was arrested in Port Coquitlam.

We want the public to be aware of the risks when purchasing tickets from online re-sellers and to take every precaution to ensure the tickets they buy are in fact real, says Constable Jamie Phillipson in a statement.

Don’t be shy, the main detachment is open 7 days a week, why not arrange to meet the re-seller here, if nothing else, it may deter would-be fraudsters from selling ticket.

Farinella faces a count of fraud and possessing identity documents and will appear in court on March 21.

The Coquitlam RCMP believe the mother-daughter pair aren’t the only ones who were ripped off by Farinella. If you were sold fake Justin Bieber tickets, you’re asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote police file number 2016-7605

No, ticketmasters will not do that.
One thing that could work is to have the seller meet you at arena and have them scan the tickets as you go in.
If they work, then tell the seller you only brought $40 for the tickets.

even if it were, the seller would just easily avoid the buyers who wanted to do that and would probably still have no problem selling their tickets

Jgresch 03-15-2016 03:18 PM

Ticketmaster won't verify the authenticity of tickets. They can, however, check if tickets were sold to a certain individual, if they provide the ticketing agent with the credit card and name of account that the tickets were purchased on. But, like I said, they can't verify that the ticket in hand is real or fake.

That's why I give people the option to pick up tickets from my place if they like so they at least have some piece of mind, and an address to provide to the cops if something goes wrong.
