So I priced a lot of it out. The $39 advertised / day for GTI turned out to be $55 after all the fees. Young drivers fee, turo fee (10%), insurance.
The corvette went from $109 > $156USD a day. A civic went from $18 > 30 a day. At this point, is it cheaper to just get a rental car from the airport in LA?

Bump. Going to Cali for Christmas and looking for something that is comfortable for 3 people plus luggage and I'm considering Turo. Anybody on here have any recent experience?

most of the time i find rentals cheaper than these, unless you want a speciality car, it is quite pointless

Anybody on here have any recent experience? | Rented an Audi s3 for a week from turo when i went down to LA a few months ago. Everything went smooth incl pickup and drop off as opposed to all the horror stories I've heard.
Only problem i had was trying to book a car... i had to go through 2 different turo listings. Initially booked an audi s5, fully paid only to be told a day later the car was in an accident and has been in the body for a week (Why have the ad available for booking in the first place?). I then cancelled it and booked a cla45 amg from a different guy, only to be told the EXACT SAME reason a few days later
It almost felt like the first 2 rental owners made up the story just to reject me for some reason.. Not sure why since i am 25+ and met all the requirements listed on their rental policy. It was more frustrating because it was pushing real close to my arrival date without a confirmed rental

If you watch the video, most of it is in the canyons and to be fair the M4 is too much of a car to be in any gear above 3. He did chirp the tires but that's a common occurrence with the M4. I wouldn't say the renter is a good driver or babied the car, but I definitely wouldn't call it abuse either.

Turo doesn't look that cheap. You want specialty cars, go to Hertz.
In May, I picked up an AMG C63 for 3 days and it cost me about $400 down in LAS. The base price was under $100 USD per day so I was able to cover it under ICBC rental car insurance.
In July, I got a C7 Stingray with 6 miles on the odometer for $900 at SFO. 3 day rental. ICBC won't cover something that expensive so I opted for the Hertz LDW.
Next month, I already have a Tesla and a 911 booked in LAS. Which one I pick up, I'll decide the night before and cancel the other one.
Before deciding on Turo, I'd check out what the big boys have to offer.
