A brand new (not resale) Porsche other than the 918 would still be cheaper than the base model 580-2. The base model 580 in Canada is $219k + $15k freight/PDI + $10k+ for basic options.

Would not a New Ford GT be considered a Hypercar?? :)

I dunno, I guess I am a sucker for all these "prestige" talk, I eat it all up. Be warned I am a huge Ferrari fanboy...

But I would like to chime in on the demand for a Lamborghini against a Porsche or Ferrari.

To me is all about the pedigree/history of the brand, what it means to own a Ferrari, Mclaren, Porsche

the premium you are paying is going towards Motorsports, the teams. I know Lamborghini races, but it is not their factory team. Unlike the aforementioned brands, which put huge amounts of their cash flow into racing.

If given the money, I would not even consider the Lamborghini. Not saying I do not like them, if I had enough money for a few supercars, then of course. But it I had to choose only 1, of course it would be a Ferrari, knowing that some of my dollar goes to their F1 program.

As Tiff puts it: Its a Ferrari.

When Pagani Zonda first came out, people immediately recognized as a prestigious brand/car.

And if you wanna talk about history, Honda and Ford have just as much racing heritage as Ferrari and McLaren.

Maybe Honda Fit and Ford Fiesta ruined their reputation?
