ive inquired with jdmconnection and brave auto before, they were both very helpful and offer step by step instructions on their website. they also have an auction site so you can look at upcoming and completed auctions and get an idea of what cars are going for. i will probably use one of them in near future.
both of them will bid on auction cars on your behalf or they have cars they purchase themselves and have in stock.

Sooo many threads on this...
I brought mine in myself, but the best way is to use a broker like JDMconnection or Brave. You pay a bit more but they do the legwork for you. You are taking a risk buying sight unseen, so it's best to put up some money to have it properly looked into.

I'm interested as well, so the best choices are probably JDMconnection, Pacfic Coast Auto and Brave?
The provincial safety inspection is pretty much straight forward? What is the likelihood of a vehicle not passing? Never have done something like this before

i contacted jdmconnection
quick response and provided some pretty good info and can give you ballpark estimates of what you are looking for based on previous ones they've sold
their website also has a lot of useful info and FAQs

I brought in an HDJ81 Landcruiser myself, it was pretty straightforward. The only comment I would make is that it's tougher to find non-smoker vehicles in Japan than it is here. The importers will find you a good example but if a stank free interior is important to you, you better make sure they can get their noses in it at the auction house. Quote:

Never have done something like this before | As long as you're bringing in something that has been imported already the chances of it not passing an OOP inspection are very low......the costs to do so can vary wildly depending on the amount of work required. There are cars that will pass with little to no work required (replace headlights with units compatible with driving on the right side of the road, side marker lights, DRL's) and away you go. If there is any work required to make the car roadworthy, you're on the hook for that before the car will pass.
I've known people that passed OOP after $300 in work and people that poured $3,000 into the car to get it through OOP inspection. The more you can do yourself, the lower your bill.
