I've made my choice, fuck the note 7 and fuck Samsung. Gonna ditch my S7 and just keep my nexus 6p till it dies. At this point I no longer have any faith in Samsung.

Samsung makes a lot of money off their lower and mid-range phones. While most people here in Canada might have Galaxy S phones, but for the rest of the world, the A and J series are extremely popular.
If I were to bet, I'd say most people switching away from the Note 7 will just either end up settling for the S7/S7E (brand loyalty) or an iPhone (money).
No one is going to be getting the Pixel other than Nexus users that don't already have a 6P. It's been the same in previous years and it will be the same again this year, except this year, the pricepoint of the phone is in the Note 7 and iPhone territory. | A lot of their mid/low end market is getting eaten up by other companies. Especially in India and China.

Well AT&T and T-mobile have "halted" sales of the Note 7. Even though there are no reports of a note 7 exploding in Canada, I wonder if some of our providers might do the same..

Lithium is highly reactive with air. It's the perfect chemical balance and packaging that keeps it from flaming up within a battery. Theres already many examples of poor battery construction like the hover boards that caught fire and this phone doesn't seem to be immune either.
If there's any possibility that it may catch fire, it's not worth it. I highly doubt that they'll ever sell this phone again. The risk of more fires is just not worth it to them as I'm sure the guy who had it smoke up while sleeping is already a hefty lawsuit.
It's a real shame because I love the notes and Samsung, but even I'm going to be a little weary when the note 8 comes out.

Samsung has permanently halted production and sales of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone after failing to correct a problem that was causing the devices to burst into flames.
The loss of one of its flagship smartphones is a major embarrassment for Samsung (SSNLF), which was forced to recall 2.5 million Note 7s shortly after the device went on sale in August.
The South Korean firm attempted to fix the problem by switching battery suppliers and updating the smartphone's software. Company executives issued a slew of apologies.
But when replacement phones were issued, a number of customers reported that those devices also caught fire, including one aboard a passenger jet.
Samsung on Monday advised all customers to stop using the phones, sending its shares tumbling by 8% in Seoul. The world's biggest smartphone maker said Tuesday it was killing off the phone entirely.
