I got one email too, funny thing is I didn't use the site, I called my salesperson directly at Samsung. Though I bought three of them so shouldn't I have gotten three emails? Maybe I should just register the three, but my confirmation email didn't even have the imei so...... Which one is registered if that's the case |

Would be sweet deal. How would the airline know your note 7 isn't gonna explode though?

$800 would be a savings of about $160 I believe from retail price at a Sammy store right now incl. trade-in.

| Samsung?s exploding battery crisis began with the rush to beat an iPhone?s rumoured down year | Financial Post Quote:
Earlier this year, managers at the South Korean company began hearing the next iPhone wouldn’t have any eye-popping innovations. The device would look just like the previous two models too. It sounded like a potential opening for Samsung to leap ahead.
So the top brass at Samsung Electronics Co., including phone chief D.J. Koh, decided to accelerate the launch of a new phone they were confident would dazzle consumers and capitalize on the opportunity, according to people familiar with the matter.
| Basically rushed the phone which lead to this fiasco.

^That entire article is more an editorial, and is written rather poorly. It's passable for a grade 11 paper, but for an actual article it's pretty shitty. I'm surprised the editor at FP let that be published.
All their sources are, and I quote from the article: Quote:
according to people familiar with the matter. Another person with direct knowledge said. One employee in an online discussion group. According to one of the people. According to one of the people familiar with the matter. According to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.
| There is absolutely no question somebody fucked up, but to write a huge article piecing together and regurgitating what's already out there, linking it directly to Apple's launch without substantiating evidence, with useless emotional jargon to just make things more dramatic, this is just a very intricate clickbait article.

If you gather all the shit Samsung has it's fingers in in Korea (everything from insurance to cars to heavy industries) then it's more.
Again, I may be wrong though.

their market share took $26B dip last week...still a drop in the bucket but I think their reputation is for the most part irreversibly tarnished.

But Im sure after a few iteration of their Note line, it will bounce back...

| ‘At least’ 26 claimed Galaxy Note 7 fires deemed hoaxes by Samsung Despite an estimated $1 billion initial recall cost, $26 billion of market value lost just like that as of last week, and numerous PR blunders bound to translate into even more “heartbreaking” damages, especially as far as public perception goes, Samsung could ultimately survive the Galaxy Note 7 explosion fiasco.
The Korean tech giant is starting to prove it has what it takes to overcome possibly the most difficult moment in its recent history, kicking off exchanges all around the world, somehow even rebooting sales here and there, and finally ensuring original Note 7 owners are well aware of their devices posing a serious fire hazard.
Meanwhile, Samsung also thought it wise to set the record straight in terms of fraudulent incident claims. As it turns out, the phone that blew up in China due to “external heating” isn’t alone on the hoax boat, with a total of 12 such reports concluding in no battery fault found, an additional seven cases where the alleged “victim” couldn’t be reached to begin a proper investigation, and seven more instances of withdrawn accusations or sketchy claims of accidental Galaxy Note 7 dumping.
It’s unclear if the overall 26 tally includes the Jeep fire that still may or may not have been caused by a defective phone, or the highly publicized case of mistaken Core Prime identity. Either way, it’s important to remember to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, regardless of what circumstantial evidence might be pointing at. |

Not sure if this is true or not.. but I think it might be slightly good news in favor of Samsung if true... not uncommon for people to try to cash in at the expense of others...

Sold it earlier today for $900. Most people are selling it for $1000, but I don't wanna worry about selling it when prices go down from an influx of people receiving their Notes.
