One of my biggest pet peeves is how FB has been killing off forums. The organization system on Facebook is a steaming pile of garbage, and there's effectively zero history. Hell if someone edits something it doesn't even carry through to the previous shares of that post. I like being able to find something like a DIY mod on a forum from 10+ years ago with relative ease, but now everyones "build threads" are just a bunch of shitty pictures in an Instagram account or FB page. The popularity of social media is effectively moving the world backwards as it's making information harder to find than it used to be.

The biggest difference would be the people. Admins and mods were always on here and there was a real sense of friendliness between most people except for a few. Nowadays, it's basically an authoritarian take on things where people's posts get edited and stupid stuff like that.

RS is like that ex that you always want to let go of, but somehow always get reeled back into.

I hate the fail system in the actual discussion portions. Sick of assholes failing posts without actually making an effort to offer an opposing view.

Maybe the mods can implement a new "Fail" system? Something like 10 people have to had clicked on the Fail button before the system shows a fail. Any fail clicks after that show up as each individual clicks on it as per usual. That way there has to be a collective agreement that something is fail worthy. Just a thought.

I miss the days where we could be racist and hateful as fuck.

The fail system is a complete joke anyways.

I remember logging on and seeing Posts Failed 4,294,967,294 Times in 151 Posts under my account. I sent Skinnypupp a message asking him why that was, since he has admin access and could easily remove it, but he just kept saying "I can't fix it." Yeah, whatever.

The idea of thanked and failed posts on an online forum is so stupid and trivial.

This as well. For many others and myself, off-topic is the only section I really browse. Before, it was either other section for car information (whatever was left of it) or in off topic with current news and beef posts. Ever since they remodelled the categories and consolidated some threads to different section, Off-topic lost its charm. That's when I really noticed that the only active threads were Real estate and Canucks thread.

The chat also moved a lot of beef and conversation away from the casual browser/lurker as welll.

ahhh i remember revscene in before 2010 , relationships section had like a new thread every day posting about breakups and hitting up girls lmao...

funniest sub section I have seen.... and I remember posting my first thread there like 8 years ago on my first girlfriend. In order for revscene to succeed in the future, it needs youth, the buy and sell section brought some from 2010 and before but died down afterwards. Any suggestions ??

Obviously you know its in edit avatar in user cp, but make sure its under the size restrictions, she said.

About 5 years ago apparently someone had a boob or something in their avatar and since RS has google money now, google said "hey no boobs or no money" so they wiped everyones avatar.

I left mine broken out of spite.

Obviously the early days 01 to like 05 or whenever when it was an Import forum, then there was another good phase around 2010 or so for a while as well when it became more of an all-topic forum. Id almost say that was the peak for RS



I think some of you are on point with saying most people have simply moved on in their life, and there hasnt been a new generation to join. But I really dont think the thanks/fail system drove everyone away (seriously, traffic must be down 80% overall).


Maybe its just me, but I really do think every thread in OT turning into a political or opinion fuck fest between a handful of members was a big part of it. you could watch a thread and by the end of page 2 it had turned all opinions, by the end of page 3 it was all arguing, and by page 4 it was down to like 4 people posting and each post was a thesis essay. Most of us don't have time to read thru that nonsense, and by the time we get around to posting in that thread, the thread has gone way off of the original topic.


Is anyone part of any forum that is bigger and better now than it was 6 years ago? I really don't know of many that are

I was a moderator of the Island forum for a short time with Monster Hui, VictoriaSiR, and Super Dipper. I still run into friend's I made on RS waay back in the day.

Like was said many people have left for FB or specific car forums. I go to car specific forums too but I still keep coming back for entertainment.

My younger cousins have grown up now and have modded EG and EK respectively. They still go to "Revscene" on Friday nights by Uptown on Friday nights. Funny that the name has held on all these years.

I think the fails are stupid because you have idiots who just come in every thread and fail everyone who isn't retarded/racist but never contribute to conversation.
I think dropping the amount of forums would be a massive help and promote posting, as it would increase perceived interest. We could easily get by with

Of course all the classifieds are nice to be divided however.

I've met a lot of great people on here, and theres lots of good conversation to be had. Theres idiots (and some fucking absolute racists, not the funny racist kind) on here, but they are everywhere. Its best to just ignore them or treat them like shit and move on.
