John Norwich Memorial Ride 2016 - TBD

Both as an unofficial wrap-up to the 2016 riding season and to commemorate John Norwich (Gwilo), we are hosting an official Revscene Ride on Sunday, September 18th.

About The Ride

Pace: slow-to-moderate

Destination: Squamish or Whistler

Start: Tim Hortons at 1409 Marine Drive, North Vancouver
Meet Time: 9am
Depart: 930am

Destination 1: Starbucks in Squamish

Based on the feedback of many riders, a 'run' to Starbucks is a great day for them. For others, we will be continuing on to Whistler after a quick stop at Chevron in Squamish. If you would prefer to do this section of the ride at your own pace you are more than welcome to continue on solo. If you would like to stay with the group, you are more than welcome to if you are satisfied with the slow-to-moderate pace. Remember, for many attending the Squamish-to-Whister section will be new.

Destination 2: Whistler Village

In Whistler, we'll be able to stop for lunch in the village at a spot of the group's choice (TBD).

About John

John (Gwilo) was a very early member of Revscene. He joined in 2000 and spent the better part of the next 14 years actively involved with the community. What I remember most about John was his efforts to be as inclusive as possible with respect to meets, rides, and Revscene-related events. To that end, he was greatly effective. He made events welcoming and accessible to all members regardless of experience, age or vehicle/bike. John is greatly missed.

Its really not that fun riding a 125cc on the hwy unless you're playing leap frog with other bikes.. Pretty much at WOT all the way + redlining, and just enough gas to make it to Chevron in Squam.. Its okay. Ill wait for a back road Harrison ride or something similar.

It can do at least 80 up hills though right? I'm sure the pace will be chill especially if it's a large group. No one will leave you behind.

Its like riding a BMX while all your friends ride road bikes... Its not the same fun factor..

Bumping this back to the top. Just a reminder if anyone can make it in a week and half (weather dependent)

Hi everybody - weather is NOT looking favourable for Sunday.

I'm going to keep my eye on this. If it's still projecting rain this evening I'm going to throw a red flag on this date and look to see if we can reschedule for the following weekend.

Stay tuned.

if anyone is interested, we'll be meeting tomorrow for a little ride. nice easy pace as it's colder and this will probably be the last ride of the season. we want everyone to enjoy themselves and get home safe.
