much overdue for the upgrade
p3 or p3xl is fantastic

R1CED` 10-25-2018 01:31 AM

have a P3 128G Just Black shipping out next week
gives them some time to sort out Android 9's bugs
hopefully the last phone i'll buy for the next 5 years :lawl:
kinda wished they had 256GB or 4K60 videos

TOS'd 10-25-2018 09:14 AM

Any specific reason you took the P3 over the P3XL?

Right now I'm stuck between the two. Or wait for the Oneplus 6T.

Anyone know when Fido will adopt e-sim?

R1CED` 10-25-2018 12:00 PM

notch city
but mostly because regular phones suits me better than Plus portions

Samsung is making the XL screen this year, LG makes the vanilla one (they traded places last year) and they are finally on par with Apple and Samsung flagships

Pixel 3 XL OLED Display Technology Shoot-Out

Gh0stRider 10-25-2018 07:44 PM

P3 is pretty disappointing. Gonna keep the OG Pixel XL

R1CED` 10-25-2018 09:08 PM

sure if you're purely comparing hardware specifications
which has hardly mattered the last few years...the extra 12k points in bench don't mean squat, like you can tell the difference between 6G memory versus 4
3rd generation is more like a refined 2nd gen
nothing wrong with sticking to the original Pixel or an iPhone 6S, like I said it's all splitting hairs; I'm only getting it because my last Android phone is dedd
personally I felt the 2016 Bezel XL looked dated even at launch and is now unnecessarily large, but that's just my subject taste and will be trading resolution for ergonomics/handling

BIC_BAWS 10-25-2018 09:56 PM

It's too expensive tbh. You could get some real cheap BC Racing coils (not that I would ever buy them) for the price of the P3 or P3 XL

Gh0stRider 10-25-2018 09:57 PM

Im planning on buying BC Racing coils lol

R1CED` 10-25-2018 10:24 PM

no doubt you can purchase a better spec'd Android for less, but it won't last as long from software side of things

the major Achille's heel of all Android is still poor resale, so I can see why iPhone (while also typically lesser spec'd), can end up being the better value

BIC_BAWS 10-25-2018 10:40 PM

I get the software side of things, I've owned an OG nexus 5, nexus 6, and pixel xl. Believe me when I say I'm a strong advocate for stock android. But that price tag ugh. I actually picked up a BB Priv in between the N6 and PXL. What a crappy phone.

I'd take KWs or STs over BCR, just a preference tho.

roastpuff 10-26-2018 08:12 AM

Gonna stick with my Pixel 2 XL. 75% of the stuff will come to the 2 XL either via updates to the apps, or APKs... Wait for Pixel 4 and maybe in-display fingerprint and no giant notch.

radioman 10-26-2018 09:45 AM

I'm still rocking OG pixel and really thinking is this thing worth a plan upgrade or the $1200ish price tag after tax...

I just feel like pixel 4 will be a much bigger step up with all the negative feedback the 3 is getting.

R1CED` 10-26-2018 12:44 PM

yep not worth upgrading from the 2...the rear fingerprint scanner is already in an ideal location, would probably get annoyed if they tried to mess with that and bring it into the display. Notch you can disable

the base 64g P3 is basically no-tax if you consider the free stand
but then I wouldn't pay $100+ for a stand in the first place :derp:
bring back the $350 Nexus 4 :okay:

pherio 10-26-2018 02:47 PM

Still with my Nexus 6p, works fine other than being almost permanently tethered to a power bank:pokerface:

Reading the reviews a lot of reviewers are saying the 3xl is the best camera that just happens to have a mediocre phone attached to it. With phones being over $1k now and needing to be replaced every 2-years, I'm really being nit-picky

R1CED` 10-26-2018 10:15 PM

almost every owner in 2018 says their 6P is a pos baha

https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus6P/com...us_6p_in_2018/

that's probably one case where it's worth upgrading, what about a used iPhone 10?

Gh0stRider 10-26-2018 10:22 PM

I got a Pixel XL from Google after my Nexus 6P shit the bed. However I woulda kept the 6P if it worked flawlessly. Cheapish phone with decent storage and dual front speakers.

freakshow 11-14-2018 02:42 PM

Some pretty sweet Pixel 3 deals coming up if people are on the fence:

Starting Friday, Nov 16

An early Black Friday promo involves buying a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL at full price and then getting a second phone at up to 50% off. This is a great promotion officially being offered by Google and ends on November 21st.

Starting Thanksgiving

Google will also be hosting some Black Friday deals, including $150 of a Pixel 3 and $200 off the Pixel 3 XL until November 25th.

Still rocking my Nexus 5X ... does everything that I need it to do. Why do you all feel like you need a new $1000 phone as soon as it comes out?

TypeRNammer 11-28-2018 04:30 PM

For the people that sent in their Pixel 2 XL, how long after did you receive your refurbished phone?

my original Pixel XL crapped the bed without any warning
giving them one more chance

your 5X hasn't bootloop'd until kingdom come?

unit 11-29-2018 01:01 PM

i had a 5x, it bootlooped. google replaced it, and less than 6 months later that one bootlopped as well.

TypeRNammer 12-30-2018 11:27 PM

Update on the warranty issue with the pixel 2 xl.

Sent wifey's phone back in November, and it was a two week turn around, which wasn't too bad.

I sent my phone in December 1st and still haven't gotten a refurb yet :fulloffuck:

zetazeta 01-03-2019 08:12 AM

Having used the 6P and upgraded to the 2XL I think this might be my last Google phone. Both phones were spectacular out of the box but it slows down a lot over time. Android apps also run much laggier compared to their iOS counterparts (my work phone is an ip7 and i tested various video games between the two and the ip7 was at least twice as smooth as my 2XL).

It's been a bit over a year since I've had the 2XL and while the camera is amazing, the phone is no longer snappy/quick, and the lack of ram makes multi tasking annoying (there's a good chance an app will 'close' when i tab between several apps due to lack in memory).
