not like i can't load the pixel launcher to my phone.. which i wont, because Nova Launcher is KING

google assistant would be nice... if you have ever tried using Now on Tap, its pretty good

but if Google Assistant is gonna be exclusive to pixel for the time being, im gonna be pissed

now we wait for them to bring 7.1 to my 6p...
support ends for the nexus 6p and 5x in 2017 :(

ending support for the 6P in 2017 means no more regular security updates? wtf..

Mr.HappySilp 10-05-2016 06:07 AM

Co-worker order it. If i have to pick with this pricing I would have pick up a Note 7. Almost same pricing but Note 7 have a lot more features and a SD card slot.

If I want something cheap I would get the 0P3. Cheap, fast, decent. That's what google should price the pixel at.

SkinnyPupp 10-05-2016 07:16 AM

Way too expensive. Phones should be getting cheaper, not more expensive... They're pretty much maxed out hardware wise, all the new features are software. What is going on? DansGame

Spoon 10-05-2016 07:58 AM

At this price range, makes more sense to buy an iPhone based purely on resale value.

6o4__boi 10-05-2016 08:10 AM

massive disappointment

hopefully the 6P will still be available from somewhere around Black Friday

StylinRed 10-05-2016 08:35 AM

my nexus5 is starting to die, well the mic is dead and the speaker isn't so great anymore either (the rest of it is fine)

so i was interested in this pixel announcement, but meh, the phone design sucks, and its not waterproof, no microsd, and its expensive

as for the camera, its basically tied with the Sony X, Samsung 7, HTC 10 give or take a point here n there, so the camera isn't a top selling point to justify that price either

meh

HTC just went full retard...never go full retard

i like the looks of the daydream VR holder though

It was assembled by HTC , just like iPhone is assembled by Foxconn.

Nexus is done AFAIK.

Razor Ramon HG 10-05-2016 10:33 AM

It's ok, the Pixel will end up dropping to $650 by the time Christmas rolls around and 90% of them are still on the shelves.

This just means no new versions of Android beyond fall of 2017. I believe security updates will continue to appear.

Wired - Google Pixel is the best phone on the planet, period wired.com

Glowing reviews from most publications.

MarkyMark 10-18-2016 11:24 AM

This phone is getting some good reviews. I still think for the price they are missing some key hardware features though.

I get the feeling that next year's Pixel will be what this years should have been. Similar phone, waterproof, wireless charging, slimmer bezels.

6o4__boi 10-18-2016 11:29 AM

for that price they better be buying some good goddamned reviews from all outlets

vitaminG 10-18-2016 12:22 PM

pixel is number one by default. note 7 killed it hardware wise for less money. note 7 had ip67, wireless charging, more base storage and SD card, edge screen, bigger screen, ois, probably some other shit im missing.

You're forgetting the amazing TouchWiz software KappaKappaKappa

The Google Assistant is the same thing as Google Now on Android phone or better? Love that shit while I'm driving.

It's pretty much Google Now taken to the next level

its getting pretty good reviews so far. i'm waiting for a few key youtube reviewers to chime in. one thing that sticks out to me based on the reviews i've seen, battery life is meh. people seem to be getting about 3 1/2 - 4hrs screen on time from a charge. i'm easily getting that with my S7 (non-edge) and it's got a smaller battery.. i have the same issue with my nexus 6p, it doesnt get more than 3hrs screen on time from one charge.

The reviews I've read from thewire, engadget, and theverge all having amazing reviews for the battery...I have no idea where you could have possibly read that.

MarkyMark 10-19-2016 08:19 AM

There's a lot of reviews that are all over the place. Gizmodo shit all over it. Website reviews are stupid anyways, it's just one guys opinion and if he happens to be an iPhone lover then the phone never stood a chance of winning them over.

Some real world testing will be out over the next week and you'll get a better sense of how this phone holds up.

Gizmodo is the first review from any reputable source that doesn't rate it highly that I've seen. But honestly I don't take Gizmodo very seriously for anything tech related nowadays -- they're more of a "general" internet blog rather than tech.

Also this was their title for the review "The Google Pixel Is Too Dumb and Ugly to Replace Your iPhone". Seriously?

With that said this is what they said about the battery:

Quote:

It’s got solid battery life that lasts over a day, a beautiful display, and snappy performance.

alwayslive 10-19-2016 09:25 AM

Phone looks pretty solid, if I didn't know that was a pixel, I would've thought it was an iphone commercial with the all white background and design of the phone lol. I do understand the price as they are trying to position themselves as a direct competitor of the iphone, but I would personally buy the iphone for the resale value as someone else stated above. Been looking for a replacement for my OPO though.. may look into this.

Expresso 10-19-2016 09:46 AM

If the back of the phone was full on glass or aluminium I may have bought one already. But I am really excited to see what the future holds.

MarkyMark 10-19-2016 10:36 AM

The more I look at it the less I hate the design. Sure the bezels are still needlessly large, but if I needed a phone ASAP I'd strongly consider this.
