Play around my buddy's pixel today. Very solid phone. The build quality is easily up there with iPhone and other flagship Android devices.

Phenomenal camera as many have reviews have said, but the real kicker is the Google Assistant. Holyshit this thing can understand anything even with my Chinese/Spanish-accented Engrish. And we were using it in a car environment, it was great that you could just talk to the phone and ask it to navigate/find stuff for you. It's a great addition given our current no HH device while driving rule in place. Just "ok google" and throw anything at it.

I can't wait for my Google Home to arrive, the first step toward a futuristic home is here.

im geting the xl, biggest factor is the unlimited online storage (stock os helps too)
especially with the amount of pictures and files i have of the kids its worth it in the long run.
Does anyone know if the unlimited storage is linked to the phone or to the account? cuz carrying it over even after switching phones later on would be awesome LOL

Bender Unit 10-26-2016 01:24 PM

so only US Playstore have "Really Blue" color ?

MarkyMark 10-26-2016 02:20 PM

Its a US exclusive for now but they said other regions will get it later. Didn't specify where or when though.

ForbiddenX 10-26-2016 02:26 PM

Is it worth it to get the Google Device Protection for the phone? Was originally going to get a OP3 but seeing as how it's not shipping until 4 weeks, I think I want to get a Pixel instead.

mk1freak 10-26-2016 03:01 PM

yea though id rather wait for the 128gb version, the ones available are only 32gb especially if i want to load up some movies and what not for long trips, though i could just use a tablet for that lol ....sigh

i just load up movies on a usb thumb drive and connect that to the pixel with the OTG dongle and stream my movies through there.

a few weeks later
the camera comparisons and photos i've seen are unreal

makes this a tough choice... im very close to jumping 100% to Apple, the camera now may stop me

T2Small 11-01-2016 09:35 AM

The camera is fantastic. In-car bluetooth does not work currently (known bug, but Google has provided no timeline for it to be fixed).

Armind 11-01-2016 10:57 AM

But IP7 has that depth of field

Unless the pixel has that too? I dunnoz

My bluetooth is working in my car. Are you talking about voice commands for the assistant through bluetooth?

And ya Armind camera has depth of field.

Was recording some video the other day and the stabilization is amazing coming from a Nexus 5.

For those who have it, is it worth the price? I know most people are saying that it isnt but it seems like the people who actually own the phone are really liking it. Also, does anyone have any experience with the extended warranty from google? Been on the fence about getting this phone since it came out.

Adorkami 11-01-2016 05:15 PM

Ordered one yesterday with Rogers, get an extra 2 gb of data/month for a year and a $50 for Google play. Out of stock so will see it within a few weeks.

i have it and i love it.
the price is pretty heavy, but i did buy a blackberry priv outright when it first came out though so it's not too bad for me.

very solid phone, very fast, charging is really quick, camera is very good.
and man.. no lag on snapchat. i've always had lag whenever i used snapchat on other phones before but with this, it was smooth.

ForbiddenX 11-02-2016 06:12 AM

128GB is in stock on the play store but only in Silver and 5" :(

No, just for phone calls and access to contacts.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Connected without any issues with my Genesis coupe.

Armind 11-02-2016 03:06 PM

How's low light vs ip7?

radioman 11-02-2016 03:15 PM

Heres a random google search for you n00b :troll:

Low light photography: One area where the Google Pixel XL leaves the Apple iPhone 7 Plus behind ? Tech2
